What are some typical daily responsibilities for a Remote Midwife?

Remote Midwives typically provide prenatal education and consultations, assess patient well-being through virtual check-ins, monitor progress and risk factors, review lab results, and offer guidance on birth plans and postpartum care. They use secure telehealth tools to communicate with clients, maintain up-to-date documentation in EHR systems, and collaborate with other healthcare providers when in-person care is needed. In this role, you may also educate and reassure expectant families, connect them with local resources, and adjust care plans as situations evolve. The remote setting often allows for a flexible schedule but requires strong organizational and time-management skills to balance multiple clients efficiently.

What is a Remote Midwife job?

A Remote Midwife provides virtual prenatal, postpartum, and sometimes intrapartum support through telemedicine. They offer guidance on pregnancy, birth preparation, lactation, and newborn care via video calls, phone, or messaging. While they do not provide hands-on care, they collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive maternity support. This role is ideal for experienced midwives looking to support families from a distance while maintaining flexibility in their work schedule.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Midwife position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Midwife, you need comprehensive midwifery training or nursing with midwifery certification, active licensure, and strong clinical assessment abilities. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, secure communication tools, and electronic health record (EHR) systems are essential for providing virtual care. Exceptional listening skills, compassion, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly are valuable soft skills in this field. These competencies help ensure safe, effective support for expectant parents remotely, building trust and fostering positive health outcomes.

Job description

At Sword, weโ€™re building AI to heal billions and unlock humanityโ€™s full potential. In doing so, weโ€™re pioneering AI Care, a fundamentally new approach to healthcare built for medical reasoning, safety, and real-time treatment, not generic technology applied after the fact. As both a clinical-centric frontier AI lab and an applied AI platform, Sword is reimagining how care is delivered at scale, removing traditional barriers like appointments, waiting rooms, and stigma so more people can access the care they needโ€”and ultimately get back to lives lived in full.
Since 2020, Sword has expanded across physical therapy, womenโ€™s health, cardiometabolic, and mental health, and is now moving beyond the session to a fully AI-native, 24/7 care program that brings physical activity, therapeutic exercise, psychotherapy, nutrition, and behavior change into one connected experience. More than 700,000 members across three continents have completed over 10 million AI sessions, helping 1,000+ enterprise clients avoid more than $1 billion in unnecessary healthcare costs. Backed by 42 clinical studies, 44+ patents, and more than $500 million raised from leading investors including Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst, and Founders Fund, Sword is defining a new standard for healthcare.

Sword Health is seeking a specialist trained as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) with an IBCLC certification to join the Bloom team. As a specialist-led, AI-powered women's health platform, Bloom brings together the right clinical expertise across every life stage because women's health compounds, overlaps, and evolves, and the care she receives should too. This role is central to delivering on that vision.

In this remote, variable-hour role, you will serve women in the Pregnancy and Postpartum pathways. You bring the expert guidance, and Bloom's AI handles detection and routing.ย

What youโ€™ll be doing
  • Deliver personalizedย  guidance on the functional, physical, and emotional aspects across pregnancy wellness, birth preparation, early postpartum recovery, and lactation support
  • Identify when member needs fall outside wellness scope and require clinical evaluation
  • Contribute to the program protocol and AI development and participate in quality review
  • Support Bloomโ€™s operations by shaping workflows and helping scale consistent, high-quality care delivery
  • Coordinate with Bloom's multidisciplinary team
What you need to have
  • Current, unrestricted CNM licensure; national certification through AMCB required
  • IBCLC certification required
  • Experience in telehealth or digital health
  • A passion for personalized, whole-body care and a genuine belief that technology can close the gaps women face in pregnancy and postpartum healthcare
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that translate into a digital care environment, with ability to build trust and engagement
  • Ability to balance clinical rigor with a strong focus on member empowerment, behavioral change, and motivational support
  • Hard-working and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • A strong commitment to data security and privacy
What we would love to see
  • 3+ years of clinical experience in postpartum care, lactation, and midwifery
  • Thorough understanding and experience in wellness services
  • Clear understanding of scope boundaries within wellness model
*This range includes base, variable and equity.
