Job description

Amazon Operations Technology Networking owns the design, planning, delivery, and support of the global infrastructure for Amazon fulfillment, transportation, and grocery sites. Our network solutions are used by hundreds of thousands of associates and play a critical role in billions of shipments per year. You'll join a diverse team of network, system, and software engineers to collaborate with people across Fulfillment Technology & Robotics to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers

The team is seeking a Network Development Manager to lead a team of engineers responsible for deployment automation of our Wireless and Access networks. This role is crucial in transforming innovative designs into production-ready implementations that support an ecosystem of robotics, industrial IoT, sensors, drones, and mobile devices. We own the end-to-end process of deploying these networks, from managing vendor relationships and telecom connectivity between sites and AWS, to implementing and scaling new network architectures

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network automation and Wireless networks including APs,
Key job responsibilities
- Set technical vision and strategy for network provisioning team. Guide architectural decisions and establish technical standards. Champion integration of AI and machine learning to enhance network automation and operations.
- Drive operational excellence through automated network solutions

Establish metrics and KPIs to measure service health and performance. Ensure timely delivery of network development projects. Scale development practices to support rapid platform expansion across global operations.
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to drive innovation in network automation and tooling

Work with vendors to influence product roadmaps and integrate emerging technologies. Champion adoption of AI-powered tools and generative AI applications for network operations. Foster a culture of experimentation and innovation through strategic partnerships.

Identify and evaluate new technologies that can benefit Amazon's network infrastructure.
- Establish engineering metrics to measure service availability, deployment velocity, and system reliability. Drive quality through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration. Measure deployment success rates, defect rates, network capacity utilization, and cycle times for continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular technical roadmap reviews and align operational priorities with organizational objectives

Provide mentoring in network engineering, automation development, and software engineering practices. Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning.
A day in the life
You'll lead a team of engineers supporting Amazon's global Wireless and Access deployment automation. Your stakeholders include Operations Technology leadership, partner engineering teams, and external vendors

Day-to-day, you'll balance strategic planning with hands-on problem solving - unblocking your team, aligning priorities across organizations, and improving deployment automation. Your customers are the operations sites launching worldwide that depend on the ability to deploy new architecture to meet changing customer needs. This role suits someone who thrives leading technical teams through ambiguity at scale.
