About You

You are a servant-hearted leader who is passionate about creating exceptional dining experiences while developing and encouraging those around you. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing creativity, organization, and operational excellence with ease. Whether you're planning menus, leading a kitchen team, managing budgets, or stepping in to support meal service, you take ownership and lead by example.

You enjoy building positive team culture, coaching others toward success, and maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and guest satisfaction. Most importantly, your Christian faith is central to who you are, and you desire to use your gifts and leadership to support a mission that impacts lives for Christ through the platform of sports.

About Us

Athletes in Action is a ministry of Cru that uses the platform of sport to help people know and follow Jesus. Through camps, retreats, conferences, competitions, and events, we create environments where athletes, coaches, and guests can grow both personally and spiritually.

At our Sports Complex and Retreat Center, hospitality plays a vital role in that mission. Every meal served, every event supported, and every guest welcomed contributes to creating meaningful experiences that help people feel valued and cared for. When you join our team, you'll have the opportunity to combine your culinary leadership with purposeful work that advances a mission far greater than food service alone.

You'll work alongside a dedicated team committed to excellence, hospitality, and Christ-centered service while helping create memorable experiences for guests from across the country and around the world.

What You'll Do
  • Lead all culinary and food service operations across the Sports Complex, Retreat Center, and Wooden Family Fieldhouse, ensuring exceptional quality and guest experiences.

  • Oversee menu planning, recipe development, food costing, and production strategies that balance creativity, quality, and financial stewardship.

  • Manage food and beverage budgets, inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships to maintain cost-effective and efficient operations.

  • Recruit, train, develop, schedule, and lead a team of culinary professionals, fostering a positive culture built on teamwork, excellence, and service.

  • Provide hands-on leadership in the kitchen, supporting meal preparation, execution, plating, and service as needed.

  • Establish and maintain culinary standards, ensuring consistency in food quality, presentation, and production processes.

  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, equipment maintenance, and ServSafe requirements while maintaining inspection-ready facilities.

  • Coach team members through performance management, staff development, recognition, and ongoing training opportunities.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to support retreats, camps, conferences, special events, and concession operations.

  • Participate in leadership and planning meetings, helping shape food service strategies and operational goals.

  • Explore and implement new culinary techniques, ideas, and best practices that enhance the guest experience and operational effectiveness.

  • Contribute to the spiritual culture of the ministry by modeling Christ-centered leadership and supporting the mission of Athletes in Action.

Minimum 2 year / Associate degree with culinary specialization

Preferred 4 year / Bachelors degree with culinary specialization

Minimum 2 years experience in industry and culinary management in an up-market P&L environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
