This role serves as a strategic partner to team presidents, operations leadership, finance, and league offices.
What You'll Do

  • Partner closely with league operations (NHL/AHL) to ensure compliance with facility standards and event requirements.

Optimize Financial & Operational Performance
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets across all facilities.
  • Lead multi-year capital improvement planning (mechanical systems, ice plant, DAS, LED, sustainability upgrades, etc.).
  • Oversee vendor contracts, service agreements, and procurement in alignment with corporate finance and legal standards.
  • Drive cost efficiencies while maintaining premium standards expected of an NHL franchise and major entertainment venues.
  • Build KPI dashboards for uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, conversion times, labor efficiency, and energy usage.

Ensure Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Lead emergency preparedness planning and venue crisis-response protocols.
  • Oversee life-safety systems, inspections, audits, and corrective action processes.
  • Maintain best-in-class ice quality and refrigeration plant operations across training and game venues.

Lead Sustainability & Asset Stewardship
  • Develop and execute a sustainability roadmap across all venues (energy efficiency, water usage, waste diversion, carbon reduction).
  • Identify ROI-positive investments that reduce long-term operating costs and environmental footprint.
  • Partner with sponsorship and partnerships teams to support green initiatives tied to commercial opportunities.

What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in large-scale sports, arena, convention center, hospitality, or multi-venue facility environments.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse, multi-disciplinary teams (union and non-union environments preferred).
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing complex operating and capital budgets.
  • Deep understanding of arena systems including HVAC, refrigeration/ice plants, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and event conversions.
  • Experience working in NHL, AHL, NBA, or comparable professional sports environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills - ability to engage ownership, league officials, vendors, and internal leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and facility management software systems.
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and event coverage.
  • Valid Nevada driver's license.

Why This Role Matters

The VP of Facilities protects the organization's physical assets while enabling revenue growth, premium guest experience, and championship-level standards across the portfolio.
