Job description

Madonna University invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in our Bachelor of Social Work Program.

The position begins August 2026. Madonna University is a Franciscan, Catholic co-educational liberal arts university located in Livonia, Michigan, a western suburb of the metropolitan Detroit area, with a student body that is an exciting and diverse mix of traditional and non-traditional students.

Teaching is of primary importance and faculty are expected to actively participate in university governance, academic affairs and scholarship.

The Department of Social Work is an energetic and thriving accredited BSW program, since 1982, and an accredited MSW program that started in Fall 2016.  We have full-time faculty members and several adjunct faculty members.  Our BSW and MSW programs have provided leadership to the University around issues such as diversity, social justice, accreditation standards and off-campus programming.  Housed in the College of Education and Human Development, the department enjoys close collaborative relationships with colleagues across the University.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, participating in curriculum review and renewal; student matriculation, orientations, recruitment and advising; overseeing field placements; compliance with CSWE standards; program assessment and evaluation; collegial engagement with others; and participation in university governance and academic life.

Qualifications include an MSW from an CSWE accredited school; an earned doctorate in social work or a closely related field strongly preferred; at least two years of post-MSW professional experience; successful teaching experience in social work education; high degree of interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and diversity; experience with CSWE standards, accreditation process, and assessment; skilled in current practices of online education preferred.   Candidates with higher education administrative experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will articulate a commitment to the University’s mission, the character and goals of a liberal arts university with a Christian perspective, values of the Social Work profession and will contribute to the vision of the Social Work.
