Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. This role involves inspection, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and testing of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards
  • Diagnose and repair system issues including false alarms, ground faults, wiring issues, and device failures
  • Install, program, and commission fire alarm systems, including device termination and panel configuration
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for system layout and troubleshooting
  • Conduct system upgrades, retrofits, and expansions as needed
  • Provide detailed service reports, documenting deficiencies, corrective actions, and recommended repairs
  • Ensure all work complies with local codes, NFPA standards, and company quality standards
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and customers to ensure successful job completion
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain strong client relationships
  • Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service response

Qualifications

  • NICET Fire Alarm Certification (Level II preferred)
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with commercial fire alarm systems
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 72 and applicable codes
  • Experience with major fire alarm systems (e.g., Notifier, Simplex, EST, Siemens, etc.) preferred
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools such as multimeters, circuit testers, and programming software
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Basic computer proficiency for reporting and system programming
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various environments (construction sites, ceilings, outdoors)
