Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Alarm Service Technician with a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and inspecting commercial fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and knowledgeable in NFPA codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Perform annual, semi-annual, quarterly, and monthly fire alarm inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 and local fire codes.
  • Diagnose system issues and complete repairs efficiently.
  • Program, test, and commission fire alarm control panels and peripheral devices.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Complete inspection reports, service tickets, and required documentation accurately.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable local, state, and national fire codes.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, and project managers.
  • Respond to emergency service calls when required.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition.
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience servicing and installing commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, National Electrical Code (NEC), and applicable local fire codes.
  • Experience with one or more major fire alarm manufacturers such as Honeywell/Notifier, Silent Knight, Edwards/EST, Siemens, Simplex, Fire-Lite, Potter, or Bosch.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex fire alarm systems independently.
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders and lifts.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Certification (Level II or higher) preferred.
  • State or local fire alarm license (where applicable).
  • Experience with access control, CCTV, nurse call, or other low-voltage systems is a plus.
