Job description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in the repair of fire alarm equipment on campus. Ensures fire alarm and fire protection systems code compliance
  • Assists in testing and service of fire protection and fire alarm systems on campus. Coordinates with building managers, third party inspectors, and relevant campus departments
  • Tests and services fire pumps on a weekly basis in accordance with relevant rules and regulations
  • Reviews new construction and renovation plans and specifications for fire alarm quality control
  • Assists Project Managers with technical support and contractors with installation and removal of fire alarm and fire protection equipment
  • Supports campus safety departments with fire alarm and fire protection systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of fire alarm equipment and Fire Alarm Control Panels (FACP)
  • Knowledge of basic office computer software such as Microsoft Office
  • Skill in computerized equipment and control systems such as Simplex fire system environment, Siemens fire system environment, and ALC WebCntl (Automated Logic Corporation web-based building automation system)
  • Skill in written and verbal communications
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to use meters to measure volts, amps, ohms, along with tools associated with electronic repairs

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
  • No experience required

We are hiring one Fire Alarm Technician at the Technician I, II, or III level, depending on qualifications and experience. Below is an overview of the Technician II and III levels, including minimum requirements and role expectations.

  • Fire Alarms Technician II

    • Job Level Overview: Operations, Administrative, Service, or Technical Support Level 2 - An intermediate level role with working foundational knowledge and skills to perform routine and occasionally non-routine tasks. Tasks may require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. May provide assistance to entry level staff.

    • Minimum Education and Experience

      • High School diploma or GED

      • 2 years of relevant experience

      • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

  • Fire Alarms Technician III

    • Job Level Overview: Operations, Administrative, Service, or Technical Support Level 3 - Senior level role with considerable knowledge and skills. Performs complex tasks and project work. Work is typically not routine and requires troubleshooting and analysis. Mentors or guides less experienced staff.

    • Minimum Education and Experience

      • High School diploma or GED

      • 5 years of relevant experience

      • Equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered

Schedule

The schedule for this position could encompass various shifts, weekends, holidays, and times other than normal work schedules.
