Job description

Genex Systems is looking for a Maintenance Shutdown Coordinator to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.

This position reports directly to the Work Control Center Manager. All work will be completed with a high level of quality, professionalism and full adherence to all safety policies and procedures.

As the Maintenance Shutdown Coordinator (also known as a Turnaround or Outage Coordinator) you will be responsible for the following:

  • End-to-end planning, and scheduling facility maintenance shutdown periods
  • Apply project management methodologies to coordinate maintenance period activities and monitor progress.
  • Act as the primary liaison between maintenance, operations and engineering
  • Facilitate pre-shutdown and post-shutdown meetings to document lessons learned and review accuracy of work order close out in the CMMS
  • Track, report, and present progress of each maintenance shutdown period
  • Compile metrics for weekly schedule meetings
  • Support the Work Control Center as needed

    These maintenance periods are critical for the preventive maintenance, major repairs, upgrades, and inspections that cannot be performed while the facility is operational.

    Qualifications:

    U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required.

    Six (6) years of related experience in the maintenance field. Additional relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for a portion of the experience. Must be able to effectively communicate and follow instructions.

    Exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. The Safe Plan of Action (SPA) is a company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries: as such, it is the most important tool that we are required to use.

    Work Environment:

    Office environment. (75%) Test facilities and active work site environment - loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation. (25%) Travel between office and various facilities is required (<5%). This is an on-site position.
    Physical Requirements:
    Limited time spent on active work sites. Must be physically capable of walking and climbing over rough terrain and working at elevated heights and confined spaces. Work sites are commonly areas of high noise levels due to facility operations. (25%) Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs.
    Equipment and Machines:
    Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.) including the following typical PC Software-Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Project (85%). Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (35%). Knowledge of IBM Maximo is beneficial.

    Attendance:

    Regular attendance mandatory (100%)
    Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (5% - 20%)
