Job description

Security Supervisor

The Security Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily security operations within a retail environment, ensuring the safety and security of customers, tenants, employees, and property. This position provides direct supervision to security officers, enforces property policies, and serves as the primary point of contact for incident response and escalation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support security officers during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to post orders, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct routine patrols of interior and exterior areas to identify and mitigate safety and security risks
  • Respond promptly to incidents including disturbances, medical emergencies, theft, and policy violations
  • Complete detailed incident reports and ensure accurate documentation of all security-related activities
  • Enforce property rules, including trespassing, loitering, and prohibited behavior in alignment with retail property policies
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency services when necessary
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a strong security presence
  • Monitor CCTV systems and radio communications to ensure situational awareness
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate security personnel; assist with scheduling and staffing needs
  • Support emergency preparedness procedures and assist in evacuations or crisis situations

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2โ€“3 years of security experience, preferably in a retail or mall environment
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screening in accordance with Indiana regulations
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations
  • Working knowledge of security systems (CCTV, access control, radios)
