Title: Seasonal Security Guard
Location: Prospect Park Zoo
Employment Type: Temporary/Seasonal
Status: Non-Exempt
Grade Level: Hourly
Pay Rate: $17.50/hour
Schedule: Must be able to work 2-5 days per week including Wednesday, weekends, and holidays.
Hours: 9:30 am - 6:30 pm, dependent on weather and guest attendance;
Position Summary: The Seasonal Security Guard supports the safety and security of guests, staff, and animals at Prospect Park Zoo. This role is responsible for monitoring zoo grounds, enforcing policies, responding to incidents, and providing a visible security presence during peak seasonal operations.
Essential Duties:
  • Presenting professionalism in uniform while assisting guests that are seeking information, medical assistance or other aid and in a courteous manner
  • Communicating clearly using a portable radio
  • Following instructions and orders from Security Management and other competent authority
  • Completing the Security Officer's Daily Activity Report
  • Will be required to remain at fixed post, a roving post covering a designated area, and entrance/exit gates, as needed
  • Monitoring building conditions for overcrowding, disorderly persons, and prohibited items inside exhibits
  • Completing other assignments as required and helping others on the team
