Job description

Position Title: Senior Drafter / Project Manager – Temporary Construction Equipment

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Drafter who is prepared to transition into a Project Manager role within our team. This position is ideal for a professional with a strong background in temporary construction equipment and a deep understanding of relevant NYC building codes and regulations.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in drafting and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of supported scaffolding, sidewalk sheds, personnel hoists, overhead and roof protection, site safety plans, and other temporary structures. A thorough understanding of Chapter 33 of the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) Code is essential, along with the ability to ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards and permit requirements throughout each project phase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of drafters to produce accurate, high-quality technical drawings.
  • Review and approve drawings for code compliance, accuracy, and alignment with project goals.
  • Conduct site visits to gather field measurements and assess installation conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and internal project teams to drive project execution and efficiency.
  • Oversee multiple projects concurrently, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and deliverables are consistently met.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, delivering clear updates and technical insights.
  • Mark up equipment sketches for as-built documentation and ensure adherence to DOB requirements.
  • Foster strong client relationships to support long-term business development.
  • Exhibit strong initiative and organizational skills in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional AutoCAD 2D experience.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven expertise in Chapter 33 of the NYC DOB Code.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Skilled in professional email communication and Outlook-based correspondence.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading client meetings and fostering ongoing business relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Exceptional time management and task prioritization abilities.
