Job description

Summary:  

The Automation Analyst is responsible for identifying, designing, deploying, and supporting robotic process automation (RPA) and other workflow automation solutions across the organization. This role works closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to improve operational efficiency, streamline processes, and deliver measurable business value.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Process Analysis

  • Collaborate with cross-functional business stakeholders to analyze existing manual or inefficient processes
  • Identify opportunities for automation based on business impact, feasibility, and ROI
  • Document current-state processes and recommend optimized future-state workflows

Solution Design

  • Design scalable and efficient automation solutions using RPA and related technologies
  • Develop workflow diagrams, process maps, wireframes, and technical specifications
  • Ensure alignment with automation best practices, governance standards, and architectural guidelines

Implementation

  • Build, configure, test, and deploy automation solutions using approved RPA tools
  • Monitor automations in production to ensure consistent performance and accuracy
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to support successful rollout and integration

Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within RPA workflows and integrations
  • Perform system updates, enhancements, and optimizations to existing automations
  • Maintain change logs, version control, and performance metrics

Documentation

  • Develop and maintain detailed solution documentation, including technical design documents, test plans, and user guides
  • Ensure process documentation is accurate, clear, and up to date

Training & Support

  • Provide training, knowledge transfer, and ongoing support to end‑users and business teams
  • Assist in developing training materials and conducting workshops or demos

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Lean/Six Sigma or process improvement certification is a plus
  • Project management experience or certifications (Agile, PMP, Scrum) are beneficial but not required
  • 2–4+ years of experience in automation, business analysis, or process improvement roles.
  • Hands-on experience with RPA tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, or similar platforms
  • Experience analyzing business processes and documenting workflows
  • Experience implementing and supporting automation solutions in a production environment
  • Exposure to Agile or iterative project methodologies is a plus

Skills and Abilities   

  • Proficiency with MS Power Platform and other RPA tools
  • Understanding of workflow automation concepts, APIs, and system integrations
  • Ability to interpret and write simple logic or scripts (JavaScript, Python, VB.NET, SQL, etc., depending on platform)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve system or process issues
  • Familiarity with SDLC, testing methods, and change management
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to assess process efficiency and identify automation opportunities
  • Competence in process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Customer‑focused mindset with the ability to support non‑technical users
  • Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior and confidentiality and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
