Job description

Full-Time Ice Cream Production Operator
Toft Dairy 3717 Venice Road, Sandusky, OH 44870
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to approximately 2:00 PM (Hours may vary depending on production and sanitation completion)

Position Summary

The Ice Cream Production Operator is responsible for supporting daily ice cream manufacturing operations by operating equipment, preparing ingredients, and maintaining a clean and safe production environment. This role is essential to ensure products are produced efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with all food safety and quality standards.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor ice cream production line equipment
  • Ensure product quality, consistency, and accuracy throughout the production process
  • Feed empty containers into machines
  • Prepare ingredients and packaging materials for production
  • Add and handle ingredients, including lifting and pouring 5-gallon buckets into mixing equipment
  • Assist with equipment changeovers as needed
  • Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble machinery in accordance with company standards
  • Maintain a clean work environment through sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing
  • Follow all production schedules, batch sheets, and work instructions
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors

Quality & Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all company food safety policies and procedures
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation requirements
  • Adhere to all OSHA safety guidelines and workplace safety practices
  • Support allergen control and proper ingredient handling procedures
  • Immediately report safety concerns, equipment issues, or product quality problems

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. multiple times per shift
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, reach, and grasp throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to work in wet production environments
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong attention to detail

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety

Preferred:

  • Previous manufacturing or production experience 
  • Experience in food or dairy production
  • Forklift experience

  • Strong attendance and punctuality are required
  • Willingness to work until production and sanitation tasks are completed
  • Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing production needs
