Full Time Risc V information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full-Time RISC-V Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full-Time RISC-V Engineer, you need a strong background in computer architecture, digital design, and embedded systems, usually supported by a degree in electrical engineering or computer science. Familiarity with hardware description languages (such as Verilog or VHDL), RISC-V toolchains, and simulation/debugging tools is typically required. Analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are vital soft skills in this role. These skills ensure the successful design, implementation, and optimization of RISC-V-based systems in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

What are some common challenges faced by engineers working full-time with RISC-V architectures, and how can they be addressed?

Engineers working full-time with RISC-V often encounter challenges such as integrating open-source hardware with proprietary systems, keeping pace with the rapidly evolving RISC-V ecosystem, and ensuring compatibility with various toolchains. To address these challenges, it's important to stay actively engaged with the RISC-V community, participate in forums or working groups, and continuously update your knowledge of new extensions and tools. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, such as software developers and hardware designers, also helps streamline integration and troubleshooting processes.

What are Full Time RISC-V jobs?

Full Time RISC-V jobs are positions where professionals work full-time on tasks related to the RISC-V instruction set architecture. These roles can include hardware design, verification, software development, or support for RISC-V based systems. Employees in these jobs may work for semiconductor companies, hardware startups, or organizations adopting RISC-V for custom processors. The work often involves collaborating on open-source projects, contributing to RISC-V development, or building commercial products using RISC-V cores. As RISC-V adoption grows, demand for skilled engineers in this area continues to increase.

What is the difference between Full Time Risc V vs Embedded Systems Engineer?

AspectFull Time Risc VEmbedded Systems Engineer
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, knowledge of RISC-V architectureBachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; experience with embedded systems
Work EnvironmentHardware design labs, FPGA development, software for RISC-V processorsEmbedded device development, firmware programming, hardware-software integration
Employer & Industry UsageSemiconductor companies, hardware startups, research institutionsConsumer electronics, automotive, IoT companies, industrial automation

Full Time Risc V roles focus on designing and developing RISC-V processors and related hardware/software, often within hardware or semiconductor companies. Embedded Systems Engineers work on integrating hardware and software for embedded devices across various industries. While both roles require knowledge of hardware and software, Full Time Risc V positions are specialized in RISC-V architecture, whereas Embedded Systems Engineers have broader embedded system expertise.

Job description

Ventana is building the highest-performance RISC-V CPUs on the planet—designed for data center, AI, and edge workloads, with real silicon, not slideware.
Our second-generation Veyron core (V2) is on track to ship early next year, featuring an aggressive wide-issue pipeline and built in 4nm. Development on Veyron V3 is ramping now, with even greater performance and deep AI platform integration. This is your opportunity to work alongside engineers who built iconic processors like the AMD K6 and the first 64-bit ARM server processor (X-Gene at AppliedMicro)—bringing decades of CPU innovation to a clean-slate, open-standards future. Locations: San Francisco Bay Area, Cupertino, or Fully Remote
Position: Compiler Engineer
Status: Full time with immediate start
Qualifications Required:
  • 12+ years of software development and debugging with C/C++
  • Strong background in compiler theory, algorithms, and optimization techniques
  • Hands-on development and performance optimization experience with GCC and LLVM compilers, debuggers like GDB, libraries like glibc, binutils and maintenance/upstream contribution of these respective tool chains
  • Hands-on experience analyzing, running, profiling, and performance optimization of benchmarks like Dhrystone, Coremark, LMBench, STREAM, SPECCPU2017, SPECjbb2015, EEMBC and more in a Linux environment
  • Hands on experience running, profiling, analyzing system bottlenecks and performance optimization of cloud workloads like Memcached, NGINX, MySQL, Redis, Cassandra, HBase etc. and associated customer workloads and benchmarks in a Linux environment
  • Linux application and kernel performance optimization - knowledge of perf, oprofile, flame graphs and getting visibility into performance bottlenecks
  • Experience in competitive benchmarking of workloads across Intel, AMD and ARM64 platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and across geographies with hardware, software, SQA and product management teams
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills and good English communications skills, both verbal and writing
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science or related engineering fields
