Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct thorough, trauma-informed mental health assessments to review patients' trauma histories and determine the most effective treatment strategies.

  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to facilitate healing.
  • Work closely with psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to provide integrated care that considers all aspects of patient needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emergency support during trauma-related situations, ensuring patients receive immediate and effective care.
  • Educate patients and their families on coping mechanisms and trauma responses while sharing available community resources.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines, contributing to a comprehensive patient care continuum.
  • Engage in regular case consultations and participate in team meetings aimed at enhancing trauma-informed care practices and outcomes.
  • Stay informed on the latest research and advancements in trauma therapy to continually improve the quality of care provided.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on individuals affected by various forms of trauma, including but not limited to veterans, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals coping with grief and loss. By employing a trauma-informed lens, you will help clients navigate their challenges, fostering healing and resilience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A masterโ€™s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license (LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT) to practice in the state of Illinois.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of two years of post-licensure experience is preferred, it is crucial that candidates demonstrate a strong foundation in trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities.
