ABOUT THE ROLE
The Events Manager is a detail-oriented, proactive events expert who helps convert live experiences into revenue-generation tools and turn clients into advocates. This is a hands-on role that is critical to ensuring our events engine runs smoothly and scales effectively. The ideal candidate is meticulous and organized, seamlessly juggling many events of different sizes at once. They will be able to coordinate multiple moving parts under pressure and ensure that any last-minute changes or obstacles are handled with minimal disruption. Above all, they will bring a strong sense of our organization's needs and how events fit into our broader business strategy.
They will be responsible for flawless execution before and follow up after major tradeshows, legal-medical "Bar and Board" events, educational "Lunch and Learns," and sponsored events. They will also help devise new event types that help generate leads, increase lifetime customer value, and bring valuable feedback from clients into product and company strategies, such as association marketing events and a customer advisory board. In addition to executing world-class events, they will be responsible for measuring the effectiveness of events and developing methods of improvement. They will also supervise an hourly Events Coordinator, who will be responsible for assisting in event execution details.

  • Compensation: $100,000 - $124,000 Annually

The pay range for this role is $100,000-$124,000 Annually. Starting pay for new hires is typically within the lower third of the range: $100,000-$108,000 Annually. Exceptions may be made based on factors such as education, specialized skills, or significant relevant experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the end-to-end execution of events using detailed project planning and active project management with clear pre- and post-show cadence, ideally by creating and using event templates that ensure no details of promotion, on-site logistics, or follow up are missing.
  • Ensure high quality attainment of goals within budget and timelines via effective coordination with other members of the Marketing team as well as individuals on other teams as warranted, venues, caterers, AV teams, etc.
  • Ensure lead-capture workflows are seamless and meet designated deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs) by partnering with the lead capture software vendor, other members of the Marketing team, Project Management Office (PMO), and Sales.
  • Prepare and manage events budgets and provide post-event reports on return on investment (ROI).
  • Prepare event attendees with all information and tools necessary to execute a successful event. Travel as necessary to key events to oversee setup, manage staff, and troubleshoot real-time logistics.

Requirements
WHAT YOU BRING
Education and/or experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or marketing preferred.
  • Previous legal experience is preferred, but not required.
  • 5+ years in business-to-business (B2B) event management. Experience planning and executing field marketing programs (e.g., "Lunch and Learns," and roadshows) is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the event life cycle-from pre-show promotion and digital integration to on-site execution and post-event lead nurturing.

Skills:
  • Proven track record of successful event coordination, including experience managing large-scale events.
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure and pivot when the unexpected happens.
  • Knowledgeable in market research, analytics, ideation, design, copywriting, social media and event promotion.
  • Ability to convey market understanding, company initiatives and company identity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to various audiences.
  • Presentation and public speaking, comfortable with speaking to groups on company's behalf.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on identifying innovative solutions to challenges and opportunities.

Technology:
  • Mastery of the operations of a personal computer, business phone, office software and other computer programs including the use of Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, etc.)
  • 3+ Years of Salesforce or related CRM experience required.
  • Must be willing and able to use modern marketing technology including Salesforce.com. Familiarity with tools like Asana, Marketo, or Cvent is a plus.
  • Proficient in creating and using spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using project management software, such as Asana, to communicate and organize events.

Other:
  • Valid driver's license, good driving history and current auto insurance.
  • Experience working in an office setting.
  • Exceptional teamwork.

TRAVEL
  • Position requires up to 20% travel, with up to half of the travel being interstate and the remainder being within California.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation, including, but not limited to:
  • Lifting, bending, standing, climbing or walking while carrying out assigned duties
  • Lifting 35 pounds to waist level to move marketing materials and help set up booth at conventions
  • Sitting for at least one hour at a time (total: 4-6 hours/day)
  • Keyboarding for extended periods of time (total: 4-6 hours/day)
  • Using a phone with or without a headset for extended periods (total: 3-5 hours/day)
  • Sitting and/or driving for extended periods of time, up to 4-6 hours in a day and up to 250-300 miles per day
