Job description

Job Summary
The Events Manager will be a key member of our team and pivotal in bringing Scholars of Finance's gatherings to life. Your responsibilities will span event strategy, logistics, volunteer leadership, speaker and Corporate Partner coordination, and on-site execution. You will collaborate closely with multiple members of our team, student leaders, donors, and partners to plan and deliver world-class events that advance our vision, mission, and values. This is your opportunity to scale Scholars of Finance's reach and impact through unforgettable, mission-driven experiences.
About Scholars of Finance
Scholars of Finance is a rapidly growing organization on a mission to transform our economic system to help make the world a better place. We are sending thousands of purpose-driven, principled future leaders into the finance industry to positively influence the trillions of dollars it manages and allocates. College is the entry point into finance, so we provide leadership development to undergraduates and help them secure roles in finance where they can effect systemic change.
Since 2019, we've raised $12M+ and impacted 7,000+ students across 60+ universities, and we're just getting started. We're a close, motivated team with a big vision of a future where all finance leaders steward the world's capital with integrity, humility, compassion, and excellence. We are fortunate to be backed by world-class Founding Partners such as BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, KKR, and U.S. Bank, and are being advised by incredible industry leaders to achieve our mission.
What You'll Do
  • Oversee student planning of 8-10 annual regional Leadership Symposia across the United States, ensuring all logistical aspects are organized, including venue selection, speaker recruitment, budgeting, and sponsorship
  • Organize and execute a virtual career fair each year with 20+ partners and thousands of students
Collaborate with student leaders and external partners to develop engaging event agendas and secure high-profile speakers
  • Build and manage detailed run-of-show plans, timelines, and budgets, and lead flawless on-site execution from setup through teardown
  • Manage event timelines and cross-functional coordination, ensuring all stakeholders-including Marketing-are aligned from planning through execution
  • Manage vendor, venue, and sponsor relationships, negotiating logistics and resolving issues in real time
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of fundraising events, and bring together leading executives to fund our mission and programs
  • Capture and apply post-event learnings, tracking attendance, satisfaction, and other success metrics to continuously improve each event
  • Streamline, consolidate, and optimize all event operations to drive efficiency, leverage, and scale
Coach and motivate student volunteers to assist with Leadership Symposia and local partner events
  • Ensure SOF's mission, vision, and values are powerfully brought to life through every event experience

Transformation You'll Drive
  • Elevate SOF's events to make them world-class gatherings that the most prestigious finance leaders and investors in the world will want to attend and invite their friends and colleagues
  • Build repeatable, scalable event systems and playbooks that allow SOF to deliver more events, at higher quality, as we grow
  • Partner with the CEO, COO, VPs, and the broader team to deliver events that deepen our impact, grow our community, and scale our mission to thousands of universities across the financial industry

What You'll Need
Foundational Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of corporate and/or Non-profit event planning experience, showcasing a growth-oriented trajectory, experience with conferences preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience of having full ownership and managing events of various sizes and complexities, from conception to execution
  • Demonstrated expertise in event logistics-venue selection, vendor and speaker coordination, budgeting, and sponsorship
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in event and project management tools and Google Suite
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Flexibility to travel up to 10% of the time, including some nights and weekends, for SOF conferences, fundraising events, and quarterly management team off-sites across the United States
  • Prior experience thriving in a remote work environment for a significant period of time, able to self-motivate without constant oversight
  • You want to work on a high-performance team that is striving for excellence
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time

Mentality for Success
  • Passion for our mission, transforming the finance system and impacting student lives
  • Commitment to developing ethical and morally sound leaders and a belief in finance as a force for good
  • Willingness to contribute beyond your job description and do whatever it takes to push the mission forward
  • Humility to be both a leader and a "do-er." After building a strategy, you'll roll up your sleeves and do whatever it takes to get it done.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a heavily cross-functional environment
  • Embraces collaboration and discussion - no "lone wolfing"
  • Can work independently and meet deadlines without continuous oversight
  • Courage to challenge the status quo when logic and reason require it. Is something broken? Fix it.
  • Thrives in a high-paced "startup-like" environment of high output and expectations.

High-Value Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience working with college students and finance professionals
  • Network in the finance sector and experience collaborating with global teams
  • Proficiency in AI tools like Claude, Notion, and Gemini
  • Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Communications, or a related field

Benefits You'll Enjoy
  • 401k match (100% match up to 5% of the base salary)
  • Pre-tax reimbursement for healthcare expenses
  • Generous paid parental leave
  • Unlimited PTO; all federal holidays off
  • Quarterly in-person team off-sites
  • High-growth culture to accelerate your professional development
  • Focus on ensuring all team members thrive holistically
