Staff Accountant

Position Overview

Monetary Metals (MM) is a disruptive, high growth gold platform, which pays interest to savers, finances qualified businesses, and provides a liquid marketplace for gold leases and bonds. Monetary Metals is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-growth company. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to take ownership of accounting processes. This position is open to remote applicants and will report to the Controller.

Core Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable:
    • Receive and validate invoices from vendors.
    • Obtain necessary internal approvals for invoice payments.
    • General upkeep of accounts payable in our accounting system.
    • Send remittances to vendors to ensure payments are applied correctly.
  • Bank Transactions:
    • Record and classify bank transactions accurately and promptly into the accounting system.
  • General Ledger Maintenance:
    • Maintain the general ledger by posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and updating financial transactions.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting records, including proper classification and documentation of transactions.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Audit Support:
    • Support external audit processes by providing documentation, reconciliations, explanations of accounting transactions, and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience required.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
