What is full time primary pediatrics?

A Full Time Primary Pediatrics job involves providing comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. Pediatricians in this role diagnose and treat a range of childhood illnesses, offer preventative care such as vaccinations, and monitor development and growth. They often work in clinics, hospitals, or group practices, collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being of their young patients. Full time positions typically require a commitment of 35-40 hours per week and may involve some evening or weekend shifts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time primary pediatrics provider?

To thrive as a Full Time Primary Pediatrics provider, you need a medical degree (MD or DO), completion of a pediatrics residency, and board certification in pediatrics. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), pediatric diagnostic tools, and immunization tracking systems is important. Compassion, strong communication with both children and families, and the ability to remain patient and attentive are standout soft skills. These competencies ensure comprehensive, safe, and empathetic care for young patients while building trust with families.

What are some common challenges faced by full time primary pediatricians, and how are they typically addressed within a practice?

Full-time primary pediatricians often face challenges such as managing a high patient volume, keeping up with evolving guidelines, and balancing administrative duties with direct patient care. Most practices address these by utilizing electronic health record systems, implementing team-based care with nurses and medical assistants, and offering ongoing professional development. Collaboration with other healthcare providers, such as specialists and social workers, also helps pediatricians provide comprehensive care while managing their workload effectively.

Starz Pediatrics Primary & Urgent Care

Estero, FL โ€ข On-site

$60 - $65/hr

Full-time

Job description

Starz Pediatrics is a high-acuity pediatric primary care and urgent care practice with two locations in Estero and Cape Coral. We are a private practice dedicated to providing the highest level of care, offering extended hours Monday–Friday 8 AM to 8 PM and Saturdays to better serve our community.
Starz is a highly rated and regarded practice and only pediatric urgent care in the surrounding region open late and on weekends, allowing us to provide unmatched access and keep patients out of the emergency room.
This is not just a job — it is a mission.
We are building something different. We are looking for a provider who shares our vision of delivering the highest level of care, practicing thoughtful, efficient, and compassionate medicine without the limitations of corporate-style healthcare.
We are seeking someone who wants to grow with the practice, contribute meaningfully, and stay on as a full-time provider as we continue to expand.
This is a dynamic role combining primary care and urgent care, ideal for a provider who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity outpatient environment.
The provider will:
  • Travel between Estero, Cape Coral and possible future local locations
  • Participate in weekend coverage as needed
FNP or PA candidates with experience in both pediatric and adult medicine are strongly preferred, as Starz Pediatrics plans to expand into adult care services in the future.
Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive pediatric primary and urgent care visits
  • Evaluate and manage urgent care presentations
  • Perform in-office procedures including laceration repair, splinting, and management of orthopedic injuries, respiratory distress, allergy testing, and other common procedures.
  • Comfortable managing ADHD and behavioral health visits.
  • Be proficient in reading basic X-rays and applying clinical decision-making
  • Utilize point-of-care testing in a high-acuity setting
  • Educate patients and families with clear, compassionate communication
  • Maintain efficiency and quality in a high-volume clinical environment
  • Assist in teaching and mentoring PA and NP students
  • Collaborate with physician and clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner (FNP preferred) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) in Florida
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (required)
  • Experience in both primary care and urgent care settings
  • FNP candidates with pediatric and adult medicine experience preferred
  • Comfortable managing pediatric patients across a wide range of acuity
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel between locations
  • Availability for weekends as needed
What We Offer
  • Excellent and supportive work environment with experienced staff
  • A collaborative academic teaching environment with PA and NP students
  • A place where providers are supported to learn, grow, and thrive
  • Flexible part-time schedule with a clear path to full-time
  • Competitive compensation
  • Opportunity to perform procedures and expand clinical skillset
  • Modern practice with in-house testing, X-ray, and urgent care capabilities
This role is designed for a provider who wants more than a job — someone looking to build a long-term career within a growing, high-acuity practice, with future opportunities including full-time leadership and expansion into adult care services.
Work Location: In person
