Position Summary
The Terre Haute Convention & Visitors Bureau (THCVB) seeks a creative, organized, and digitally savvy Digital Marketing & Content Coordinator to help promote Terre Haute and Vigo County as a premier visitor destination.
This position is responsible for creating compelling digital content that inspires travel and showcases the community's attractions, events, dining, outdoor recreation, arts, history, sports, and unique experiences. The coordinator will manage the Bureau's social media presence, create digital and print marketing materials, maintain website content, produce email marketing campaigns, develop visitor engagement initiatives through digital passports, and support integrated marketing campaigns that increase visitation, overnight stays, and visitor spending.
The ideal candidate is an excellent storyteller with strong writing, graphic design, photography, and digital communication skills who enjoys discovering and sharing the people, places, and experiences that make Terre Haute and Vigo County unique.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Marketing
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating integrated digital marketing campaigns that promote Terre Haute and Vigo County as a visitor destination.
  • Create engaging content across social media, the THCVB website, email marketing, digital advertising, and other online platforms.
  • Support seasonal and thematic marketing campaigns designed to increase visitation, overnight stays, and visitor spending.
  • Monitor digital marketing trends and recommend innovative strategies, emerging platforms, and best practices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of digital marketing initiatives using website, social media, email, and campaign analytics, and recommend data-informed improvements to maximize audience engagement and visitor conversion.

Content Creation & Storytelling
  • Produce complling written, graphic, photographic, and video content showcasing local attractions, festivals, sporting events, restaurants, arts and culture, outdoor recreation, and community experiences.
  • Write engaging copy for social media, blogs, itineraries, newsletters, advertising, and promotional materials.
  • Capture and edit photography and short-form video content for use across multiple channels.
  • Identify, research, and tell compelling stories about Terre Haute and Vigo County through interviews, feature articles, blogs, videos, and multimedia content that highlight the community's people, places, events, and experiences.
  • Maintain an organized digital library of photos, videos, and marketing assets.

Social Media Management
  • Manage the THCVB's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and emerging or new channels.
  • Develop monthly content calendars aligned with marketing priorities and seasonal tourism campaigns and opportunities.
  • Monitor comments, messages, and online engagement while fostering positive interactions with visitors and community partners.
  • Analyze platform performance and prepare reports with recommendations for continuous improvement.

Website & Digital Content
  • Maintain and update the THCVB website using the content management system.
  • Add and update attractions, events, itineraries, blog articles, visitor resources, and tourism-related information.
  • Ensure website content remains accurate, engaging, and optimized using SEO best practices.
  • Assist with website analytics and content improvements to enhance the visitor experience.

Email Marketing
  • Create and launch a new See You In Terre Haute e-newsletter.
  • Create engaging email campaigns highlighting upcoming events, travel ideas, seasonal attractions, visitor experiences, and partner promotions.
  • Maintain subscriber lists and audience segmentation.
  • Monitor email performance metrics and recommend improvements to increase engagement and conversion.

Visitor Engagement Campaigns
  • Create, manage, and promote digital visitor passport experiences using the Bandwango platform.
  • Develop themed visitor campaigns encouraging exploration of local attractions, museums, restaurants, shopping districts, public art, trails, and events.
  • Monitor campaign participation and analyze performance data.
  • Recommend new visitor engagement initiatives that increase visitation, overnight stays, and repeat travel.

Graphic Design & Brand Management
  • Design brochures, flyers, posters, rack cards, advertisements, digital graphics, presentations, signage, and other promotional materials.
  • Ensure all marketing materials reflect the THCVB's brand identity, messaging, and visual standards.
  • Coordinate design projects with outside vendors as needed.

Community & Partner Engagement
  • Collaborate with attractions, hotels, restaurants, museums, event organizers, and community partners to gather content and promote visitor experiences.
  • Attend tourism events, festivals, and community activities to capture real-time content and represent the THCVB.
  • Assist with visitor inquiries and promotional requests.
  • Foster positive working relationships with tourism stakeholders throughout Vigo County.

Marketing Analytics & Administrative Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly digital marketing performance reports summarizing website traffic, social media engagement, email marketing results, Bandwango passport participation, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Analyze marketing data to identify trends, measure campaign effectiveness, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain marketing calendars, project timelines, and digital asset organization.
  • Assist with annual marketing plans, special events, grant reporting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support partner reporting by compiling marketing metrics and visitor engagement data as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Public Relations, Tourism, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One to three years of experience in digital marketing, communications, tourism marketing, destination marketing, or a related field (internships included).
