Job description

Position Overview

Biomedica Mental and Counseling Center, located in Huntington, New York, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Counselor to join our telehealth team. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to provide remote support to patients struggling with a variety of mental health issues, contributing to improved mental well-being in an accessible manner.

About the Organization

At Biomedica Mental and Counseling Center, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality mental health services through a team of skilled professionals. Our outpatient psychiatric practice focuses on a collaborative and integrative approach to mental health care, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based therapies tailored to individual needs. By utilizing advanced telehealth technologies, we extend our reach, ensuring that help is available for those in need, regardless of geographical barriers.

Work Environment

This role is entirely remote, allowing you the flexibility to provide care from a safe and comfortable environment. The telehealth setting permits counselors to reach a diverse patient population, facilitating interactions through video calls, phone consultations, and secure messaging. You will work closely with a supportive team of mental health professionals while maintaining a healthy work-life balance, given the structured Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM schedule with some flexibility to accommodate patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Counselor, you will be entrusted with the following duties:

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments to understand patients' needs, creating personalized treatment plans to guide their recovery journey.
  • Employ a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused techniques, to deliver effective treatment to individuals, couples, and families.
  • Facilitate engaging psychoeducational groups that foster community and support among participants facing similar mental health challenges.
  • Collaborate regularly with psychiatrists, psychologists, and additional team members to ensure holistic and coordinated patient care efforts.
  • Provide crisis intervention services, offering immediate support during mental health emergencies to ensure patient safety and stabilization.
  • Educate patients about their mental health conditions and available treatment options, empowering them to make informed decisions about their recovery.
  • Maintain precise and confidential documentation in compliance with all legal and ethical standards.
  • Participate in case consultations and team meetings, sharing insights to enhance team dynamics and clinical approaches.
  • Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in the mental health field to integrate innovative practices into your counseling.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will involve diverse patient demographics, including individuals grappling with depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse issues. By leveraging telehealth, you will engage with a wider audience, some of whom may have previously faced barriers to seeking help, such as transportation challenges or geographical limitations.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Social Work, Psychology, or Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LCSW, LCSW-R, LMHC, or LMFT in the state of New York.
  • Proficient knowledge of mental health disorders and a solid understanding of evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, combined with a strong ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
Preferred Experience

In addition to the basic qualifications, candidates with experience in telehealth counseling and those proficient in evidence-based therapy techniques will be given precedence. Familiarity with digital record-keeping systems and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development are highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this full-time position ranges between USD 115,000 and 130,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to competitive compensation, Biomedica offers a robust benefits package that includes:

  • A comprehensive healthcare benefits package to support you and your familyโ€™s health needs.
  • A retirement savings plan with employer contributions to secure your financial future.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay to promote a healthy work-life balance.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage to safeguard your practice.
  • Opportunities for continuing education and support for individual professional development.
  • A collaborative work environment that encourages shared learning, peer support, and career advancement.
Career Growth Opportunities

At Biomedica, we prioritize the professional growth of our team members. Employees will have access to mentorship, training programs, and the potential for career advancement within the organization as we continue to expand our services and reach more patients in need.

Why Join Our Team

We are committed to offering an encouraging environment where your skills and insights can flourish, and where your contributions significantly impact the mental health of individuals across New York.
