The World of Warcraft team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a strong gameplay foundation and a passion for building high-quality player-facing UI. In this role, you'll work within an established yet continually evolving codebase - Azeroth is no small world. You'll identify challenges, solve problems, and contribute to improving the UI experience for millions of players. Collaboration is core to how we work, so you'll partner closely with others to support a shared vision and help bring features to life.

This role offers a flexible hybrid work week, with a mix of remote and on-site days. While hybrid is the standard arrangement, you're also welcome to work on-site full-time if you prefer. Our primary studio location is in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Implement functional and polished UI features from approved concepts and designs.

  • Develop back-end functionality to support front-end systems.

  • Own UI features end-to-end, including implementation, iteration, bug fixing, and ongoing support.

  • Identify and solve technical challenges, making thoughtful trade-offs across quality and performance.

  • Provide continued engineering support for existing UI features.

  • Work collaboratively with designers, engineers, and artists to build compelling UI features.

  • Contribute to and help foster a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful team culture.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in a software engineering role, or an equivalent combination of industry and educational experience.

  • Proficiency in C++ or a similar language.

  • Knowledge of modern data structures and algorithms.

  • Self-motivation and willingness to participate in many areas of game development.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with developing UI addons for World of Warcraft

  • Knowledge of World of Warcraft's addon security systems or similar systems in other games.

  • Knowledge of high-level scripting languages such as Lua, Perl, or PHP.

  • Knowledge of World of Warcraft or other MMORPGs.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $101,000.00 - $186,754.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
