POSITION INFORMATION
  • Baker School District is currently seeking a candidate for a Full-time Custodian II position at Haines Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
  • Orientation: August 11, 2026.
  • Start Date: August 21, 2026.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Responsible for cleaning and maintaining a district facility and grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. Work in cooperation with other maintenance and custodial staff to maintain facilities and equipment in proper working order throughout the district. Some travel may be required. This could be a supervisory position.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • May supervise Custodian I personnel.
  • Prepare, implement, and facilitate work plans and schedules.
  • Order custodial and maintenance supplies for the building and grounds.
  • Maintain the building, equipment, and grounds in a neat and clean manner, complete minor repairs as required, and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Regularly clean building to include windows, base boards, and decontaminate building, door knobs, rails, equipment, and work areas after contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials to help prevent blood borne pathogens.
  • Prepare rooms for various functions in the building, maintaining building security.
  • Direct all maintenance requests to appropriate supervisor and ensure that related repairs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Handle staff requests based on the work schedule and safety issues, prioritize and respond accordingly.
  • Assist with safety drills and make appropriate contacts to alert fire department, alarm company, etc.
  • Assist with safety inspections and provide monthly reports to supervisor. Regularly inspect facilities for normal wear and tear, vandalism, safety hazards, etc., and ensure that proper maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with student supervision in custodian's duty areas.
  • Participate in in-service and/or professional development programs, funded by the district, when requested by administrator/supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SALARY
2026-2027 Salary Scale $20.93 - $26.74 per hour. Placement on the salary schedule will be in accordance with the BSD 5J/OSEA collective bargaining agreement.
Baker School District 5J offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package for health and retirement. In addition, the District pays the six percent (6%) employee PERS contribution required by ORS 238.200 and ORS 238A.330.
