Sales Operations Specialist

Fulltime, Direct hire position in Wilsonville, OR

About the business

Our client is a strategic growth consulting company founded in 2009. We help consumer brands grow by combining strategy, execution, and operational expertise. Our team works closely with clients to deliver practical solutions and measurable results. The role will report to Operations and Logistics Manager and will be part of the larger Ops & Logistics team that she's building. This role will support global clients as well as domestic clients. The majority of sales regions covered are in North America, but the role requires coordination with Asian manufactures and clients that are based abroad.

As a consultancy, TargetPath does not have a traditional standalone "Sales" team. Instead, four people work on client accounts in a sales function:
  • A Managing Partner who leads multiple accounts (and is also building their own company)
  • A Senior Partner who leads multiple accounts
  • A Partner / Director of Channel Marketing who leads both marketing and sales efforts across various accounts
  • A Sales Specialist
In addition, each of our client accounts has its own internal sales team. This role will support our client specialized in manufacturing premium drop protection cases made from 100% recycled materials — ( the primary account tied to this role) — our Senior Partner leads sales overall, and there are an additional 2–3 sales team members on the client side.

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Sales Operations Specialist to support multiple client accounts. This is a client-facing role that works closely with sales teams, retail partners, distributors, finance teams, and manufacturing partners to ensure orders, inventory, and operations run smoothly.

The ideal candidate has experience working with physical products in industries such as consumer goods, retail, wholesale, consumer electronics, accessories, or CPG.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Operations & Order Management

  • Manage purchase orders, open orders, inventory levels, and shipment status
  • Communicate backorders and follow up with retail partners
  • Track and resolve credits, chargebacks, deductions, and claims
  • Coordinate with sales, finance, manufacturing, and retail partners to keep orders moving
  • Manage samples, promotional products, demo units, and warehouse inventory
  • Support demand planning and replenishment processes (CPFR)
  • Assist with product pricing, materials, and retail planning activities
  • Maintain trackers and reports for orders, inventory, pricing, samples, and account status

Client Account Support

  • Partner with the leadership team to deliver excellent client service
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for clients
  • Support logistics, warehouse activities, delivery issues, and customer service needs
  • Maintain task trackers and ensure timely follow-up
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer requirements and product lines
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows

Manufacturing Partner Coordination

  • Work with China-based manufacturing partners on product launches, order status, sample requests, and shipment readiness
  • Help resolve issues and ensure production schedules align with customer commitments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2-3+ years of experience in sales operations, order management, or account operations
  • Experience with ERP and EDI systems preferred
  • Experience working with physical products in retail, wholesale, consumer goods, electronics, or related industries
  • Knowledge of purchase orders, inventory management, open order tracking, and pricing coordination
  • Experience supporting retailers, distributors, and e-commerce channels
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Willing to participate in early morning or evening calls approximately twice per week
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills and ability to work with global partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Chinese OEM/ODM manufacturing partners
  • Experience managing production schedules, purchase orders, quality control, and freight coordination
  • Experience supporting trade shows, product launches, or retail readiness activities
