Job Summary:

Under general supervision for monitoring and taking corrective action on infrastructure within a 24/7/365 NOC environment on a team that is responsible for supporting an IP network and telecommunications infrastructure for NextLink equipment.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor switching, digital, optical, wireless and associated telecommunications equipment.
  • Perform fault analysis, isolation and remediation in switching, digital, optical, wireless and other technologies.
  • Maintain accurate records in a variety of tracking resources.
  • Develop extensive knowledge of NextLink Broadband products and services. This will include carrier, fiber, and all commercial and residential products offered by NextLink Broadband.
  • Provide Single Point of Contact duties for high-risk & service impacting events.
  • Open and refer Trouble Tickets to the appropriate level of support.
  • Escalate network problems both internally and externally.
  • Interface with customers, engineers, vendors and technicians to resolve trouble reports.

Skills:

  • Candidate should also be highly motivated, very organized, and can multi task

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from one-year College or technical school; or two year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with routers and switches
  • SNMP Experience, Basic Routing Experience, Basic Wireless experience
  • Nice to Have:
    • CCNA or Network+ (or equivalent are desirable, not required)

Work Environment/Hazards:

  • Working conditions primarily inside an office environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • High level of interaction with external/internal clients

Physical Demands:

  • Able to frequently move, transport, positions objects of 50 pounds or more
  • Stationary position for 8-10 hours a day
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment.
  • To perform this job successfully, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position. Daily movements include sitting, standing, operating computers and other office equipment and moving about the office. The employee must be able to communicate via email and verbally via telephone

Working Hours/Days:

  • Full-time
  • Ability to work off hours, weekends, or night shift as required to support a 24 x 7 network operations center (NOC)

Travel Requirements:

  • Able to travel 0-10% of the time
