Job description

Japanese Bilingual Purchasing Assistant
Location: Torrance, CA
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $45,000 โ€“ $55,000 DOE

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Japanese Bilingual Purchasing Assistant to join a stable and growing international company.

This position is primarily responsible for purchasing and inventory-related operations while supporting communication with both internal departments and external vendors. The ideal candidate enjoys working with data, is highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced team environment.

In addition, this role will provide occasional backup support for basic IT-related tasks when the IT team is unavailable. Previous IT experience is not requiredโ€”training will be provided for candidates who have an interest in technology and are eager to learn.

Position Summary

Workload
- Purchasing & Supply Chain Operations: 90โ€“95%
- IT Backup Support: 5โ€“10% (only when needed)

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Inventory Support
- Assist with purchasing activities and vendor communication
- Process purchase orders and maintain purchasing records
- Coordinate with internal departments regarding inventory and purchasing needs
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory management
- Support import/export and supply chain operations as needed
- Maintain accurate data and documentation
- Prepare reports using Microsoft Excel

IT Backup Support (Training Provided)
When the IT staff is unavailable, assist with basic IT-related tasks, including:
- Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams)
- Basic troubleshooting
- SharePoint permission management
- Basic networking support
- Support for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and related systems

Qualifications

Required
- Native or business-level Japanese communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel
- Experience using Excel functions such as:
- SUMIFS
- XLOOKUP
- Pivot Tables
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

An Excel skills assessment may be included during the interview process.

Preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (D365 Business Central)
- Experience in purchasing, inventory management, logistics, supply chain, or import/export operations
- Positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude

- Interest in learning basic IT support
