POSITION: Full-Time Pianist and Music Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: School
REPORTS TO: Dean of PBT School
CATEGORY: Full-time, Contract Exempt
SALARY: Annual salary of $40,950
Position Overview
The School of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is seeking a Full-Time Pianist and Music Coordinator with advanced piano skills and strong organizational abilities. This role combines musical accompaniment, teaching, and administrative coordination and requires a highly reliable, collaborative, and detail-oriented professional.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Teaching
  • Schedule pianists and percussionists for School and Dance & Fitness classes.
  • Assist with hiring and onboarding of new pianists.
  • Train and support newly hired accompanists.
  • Develop and teach classes and workshops in music theory and ballet accompaniment.

Accompaniment & Performance
  • Perform and arrange piano music for ballet classes and performances.
  • Provide accompaniment for PBT Company as needed, including emergency coverage.
  • Develop and maintain the School's music library.

Qualifications
  • Advanced piano proficiency with experience in ballet class accompaniment.
  • Strong sight-reading and improvisation skills.
  • Ability to adapt tempo, style, and musical structure in real time.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
