Job description

Chinese Alliance Church of Westchester (CACW) is seeking a full time Associate Pastor with a passion to cultivate the life of Christ in our church and community.
A Christian and Missionary Alliance ("CMA") church located in Port Chester, New York, CACW is a community of believers seeking to love God and others. We are a Chinese- and English-speaking church with two congregations and a combined total of about 120-150 attendees.
Associate Pastor -- Responsibilities
  • Support and work collaboratively with the pastoral staff (Chinese and English congregational pastors), along with church leadership, to help our people and our community to experience and live out the love of Christ.
  • A vital area of focus will be to oversee and nurture our Youth Ministry. This group of 6th to 12th graders is made up not only of Chinese youth, but also a diverse mix of young people, and current attendance ranges from 15 to 20. We are looking for someone who will care as deeply about this important ministry as we do.

Responsibilities in connection with the Youth Ministry will include:
    • Leading and working collaboratively with our highly engaged lay youth leaders to plan, coordinate and lead the weekly Youth Group gatherings as well as other special events such annual youth retreats, triannual CMA national youth conferences, short term missions and other community outreach.
    • Teaching and exemplifying biblical precepts and concepts to these young people in weekly Youth Group gatherings, Youth Sunday School, Bible studies/devotionals and other occasional events.
    • Mentoring and discipling members of the Youth group personally and spiritually.
    • Finding ways to encourage and equip parents in their parenting, hosting occasional youth/parent events, etc.
  • Other responsibilities include:
    • Work with the pastoral staff and governing board to plan, pray, and coordinate various ministries within the church.
    • Preaching (frequency will vary depending on the experience of the individual), support children ministry including the annual Vacation Bible Camp, support church mission or evangelical efforts such as annual mission weekend, annual church picnic.
  • Help with community outreach. As a church in diverse neighborhood, we seek to reach out to our local community in a variety of ways; opportunities for the Associate Pastor include:
    • Assist with the church's bi-weekly food pantry to the community in Port Chester.
    • Assist with our after school program (currently on hiatus, but which has historically met once a week).
    • Connect and build relationship with the families and youth from our local community.

Qualifications:
  • Passion for God: a born-again Christian who believes in the infallibility of the Bible and is willing to abide by the doctrines and traditions of the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination. (See our our denomination website).
  • Passion to work with youth and cross-cultural ministry.
  • Youth Ministry experience (preferred).
  • A ministry-focused Masters degree is preferred, but we will consider candidates with a minimum of a bachelor's degree with a relevant focus, preferably from an accredited seminary, Bible college or equivalent.
  • Readiness to pursue C&MA licensing.
  • Fluency in Spanish would be a plus (in order to support our current neighborhood outreach).
