Pay Range

Perform analytics, relationship management and prospect research. Through data mining and analysis, independently identify high-wealth major gift prospects. Manage information required for the successful identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major and principal gift donors. Our prospect research office is counted among the most advanced prospect research departments in the country, maintaining comprehensive resources and ongoing training programs.
Essential Functions:
  • Increase philanthropic support from companies and foundations by identifying disease-based organizations with guidelines that include medical centers. Collaborate with Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations to expand opportunities for faculty grant proposals.
  • Perform complex analytics: design and utilize online business intelligence tools and reports for robust data mining of 25K+ records to identify major gift prospects. Utilizing sophisticated constituent databases, perform predictive modeling to identify trends that inform the strategic management of fundraising operations. Create data models to rank prospect affinity for Wake Forest Medical Center / Wake Forest School of Medicine. Develop models to support short-and long-term planning including giving trend analyses, statistical modeling, custom analysis, and other projects. Analyze constituencies and forecast behavior through data benchmarking and modeling. Employ multiple screening strategies and methodologies based on constituent list segmentation, external data, and peer group screenings.
  • Strengthen Wake's philanthropic boards and advisory groups by playing key role in nomination process: recommend high-wealth individuals with linkages to WFBMC to serve, vet names submitted by existing board members.
  • Provide relationship management services. Assign new prospects to gift officers and monitor prospect portfolios to ensure appropriate balance. Track prospect stages and fill portfolio gaps based on ideal stage mix. Work in partnership with gift officers to prioritize and manage prospect portfolios, with particular emphasis on identifying best prospects for discovery calls and out-of-state visits. Train gift officers on business intelligence tools for prioritizing prospects. Provide portfolio review services to gift officers to ensure they are effectively engaging with top prospects.
  • Increase philanthropic support from alumni, patients and other individuals. Investigate financial status, including stock holdings, salary, real property, and community philanthropy. Research history of relationship with WFBMC and Wake Forest University. Investigate family history, community affiliations, and personal interests. Analyze corporate financial data and industry trends. Obtain detailed financial disclosures including SEC shareholder filings, 990s and property records. Prepare reports used by leadership, faculty, campaign volunteers and gift officers in preparation for Board nominations, high-end gift proposals, and strategy planning.
  • Increase pipeline of major gift prospects by identifying potential donors from patient records, donor databases, and other sources utilizing electronic wealth screening. Evaluate ability and propensity to give a major gift by analyzing wealth indicators, interests and connections. Identify and access all pertinent reference sources, including national libraries and commercial databases. Manage large projects including electronic wealth screenings. Define pool to be screened and manage screening results to ensure full use by campaign. Records and present new prospects for management by gift officers.
  • Perform relationship management services: alert Development Officers of changes in prospect's status and newly identified prospect connections which affect the solicitation strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts throughout our and other institutions to further the research investigation, learn new methods, and obtain new resources. Participate in professional development activities to remain current in field of Development. Keep abreast of Triad Area 'movers and shakers' and the economic health of potential corporate and individual donors via media sources and news alerts. Maintain membership and stay active in the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement and attend its local chapter (APRA-Carolinas); attend chapter and national meetings.

Education / Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and four years of related development experience.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with advanced Excel and database usage, data analysis and metrics, predictive modeling, data mining
  • Familiarity with complex relational databases and data management principles Demonstrated abilities in planning, organization, information resource management, task prioritization, and time management
