Job description

American Crystal Sugar is seeking skilled House Mechanics to join our team in East Grand Forks, MN. This role is essential to maintaining and optimizing complex factory equipment. If you’re mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and ready to take on a hands-on challenge, we want to hear from you!

The House Mechanic performs a wide variety of duties and tasks associated with the mechanical (millwright) discipline. These duties and tasks include a range of maintenance interventions, from basic parts replacements to equipment refurbishment to optimizing equipment performance to advanced troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with federal, state, company, and factory safety requirements
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and lubrication tasks
  • Maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts and manlifts
  • Use and safely operate hand and power tools
  • Perform rigging and equipment relocation using overhead cranes
  • Weld, cut, and fabricate using SMAW and GMAW processes
  • Communicate with production teams to optimize equipment performance

Schedule/Shifts:

  • 12-hour rotating day AND night shifts
  • DuPont Rotation
  • Shifts begin at 8 AM/8 PM

Job Requirements:

  • 2-Year technical degree (ie, Industrial Tech, Manufacturing Tech, Mechanical Design, or related). OR
  • Completed a state-approved millwright apprenticeship with a minimum of 2 years full-time industrial millwright experience. OR
  • A High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 5 years consecutive full-time industrial millwright experience.

Testing:

  • Candidates will be required to take a millwright, welding, and basic skills test.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a Safety Screen that assesses their ability to perform job duties safely.
