Description
Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to join our cohesive and diverse team of professional problem solvers in Redmond, WA.

JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer will design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems or related processes. They will work with others to refine product designs to increase producibility and decrease costs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer acts as a mentor to Manufacturing Engineers and executes NPI programs to completion as follows:
  • Utilizes the DFMAT and PFMEA tools, documents manufacturing concerns and work with development teams to rectify these concerns.
  • Acts as a liaison in addressing quality and manufacturability concerns between internal and external suppliers and customers, identifying, and implementing improvements in cost, yield, and lead times.
  • Maintains a fundamental knowledge and understanding of industry standards and best practices. Assesses gaps between contractual requirements, industry standards and specifications against current company policies and procedures. Establishes and executes plans to address deficiencies.
  • Designs, develops, validates, and maintains tools and fixtures of moderate complexity.
  • Shares and transfers specialized process knowledge in key commodities to the Manufacturing Engineering team, as opportunities arise.
  • Supports supply chain and quality in conducting work transfers between suppliers, other Astronics' business units, and/or internally, as needed.
  • Creates and maintains EPS (Engineering Process Specifications) and/or Manufacturing Engineering business process documents.
  • Performs troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of equipment of moderate complexity to minimize or eliminate production down time. Works with Test Equipment Support to implement preventative maintenance measures based on failure or maintenance data.
  • Supports or conducts training of departmental and/or production personnel on processes, as needed.
  • Identifies and maintains metrics to drive continuous improvement activities.
  • Leads teams and projects, as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as needed to support the business

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  • Demonstrates proficiency (typically 5+ years of direct experience in the essential functions of the position)

Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and the ability to deploy these principles.
  • Understanding of industry standards and best practices.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Advanced skills in tooling and fixture design.
  • Intermediate understanding of Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Intermediate understanding of Root Cause / Corrective Action (RCCA).
  • Intermediate skills in process validation and qualification (IQ, OQ, PQ).
  • Intermediate understanding of FMEA (both Process and Design).
  • Intermediate skills in automation & controls integration.
  • Basic skills in process simulation & modeling.
  • Skills in technical documentation & validation.
  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques.

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, this position may involve access to items subject to U.S. export-control laws. Employment is contingent upon the employee's authorization to access such items under applicable law.   • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a background screening and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis.

Base salary range is $94,208 - $141,313 per year. Midpoint is $117,760.
Several job-related and non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, licensure or certifications, other qualifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered.
