Position Summary
The Incumbent will be responsible primarily for leading the engineering and design review, of piping systems for a Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) and Integrated Steel Plant preferably with Electric Arc Furnace route.. This role will oversee all piping-related activities across process units, utilities, and supporting infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective project execution.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, including engineering reviews, contractor management. The role requires extensive experience in large-scale industrial facilities within the Iron & Steel, Metals & Mining, and heavy manufacturing sectors, with a strong understanding of DRI process plants and integrated steel production facilities.
Experience in construction, installation and maintenance oversight shall be added advantage.

Job Responsibilities
Engineering and Design Management
  • Review and approve piping engineering deliverables, including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), piping layouts, isometric drawings, material specifications, and construction packages.
  • Ensure piping designs comply with applicable ASME, API, OSHA, and project-specific standards and specifications.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure integrated design execution.
  • Evaluate and resolve technical issues related to piping design, constructability, operability, and maintainability.
  • Review pipe stress analysis reports and ensure compliance with applicable design requirements.
  • The incumbent is expected to have working knowledge on construction and installation activities in related domain. Responsibility shall include site design co-ordination and support during construction phase as well as testing & commissioning phase.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
  • Ensure compliance with project QA/QC procedures and applicable industry standards.
  • Review welding procedures, inspection plans, hydrostatic testing procedures, and non-destructive examination (NDE) requirements.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, punch-list closure, and final acceptance activities.
  • Verify proper documentation and turnover packages are completed before commissioning.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout all piping activities.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, site safety requirements, and environmental standards.
  • Participate in safety audits, hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
Project Controls and Resource Management
  • Manage piping budgets, schedules, and resource planning activities.
  • Track project progress and develop recovery plans when required.
  • Review contractor progress reports, change orders, and claims related to piping scope.
  • Support procurement activities, including material take-offs, vendor evaluations, and equipment inspections.
Leadership and Stakeholder Coordination
  • Lead and mentor piping engineers, supervisors, inspectors, and field personnel.
  • Foster collaboration among engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to senior management and project stakeholders
  • Support workforce development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Managementor related field.
  • 8 to 12 years of progressive experience in piping engineering, within the Iron & Steel, Metals & Mining, or heavy industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME codes & standards (ASME B31 series) and pressure piping systems.
  • Experience with piping materials selection, corrosion control, insulation, and piping supports.
  • Familiarity with construction management systems, project controls software, and digital project execution tools.
  • Experience with pipe stress analysis principles and related engineering practices.
  • Must be thorough in piping design softwares
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work in complex, cross-functional industrial project environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
