General Machine Operator

Reports To: Plant Manager

Position Type: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m
FLSA Status:Non-Exempt


Position Overview


The General Machine Operator plays an essential role in producing high-quality finished architectural panels and related products. This position is responsible for operating various machinery to process wood and foam materials according to product specifications. Operators must work efficiently to maximize material yield, identify and address material defects, and ensure all production follows safety and quality standards.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Operate production machinery safely and efficiently to produce high-quality finished goods
  • Set up, adjust, and maintain equipment according to specifications and production needs
  • Inspect raw materials for defects or inconsistencies before processing
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate production
  • Perform basic equipment inspections and preventative maintenance as needed
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and quality
  • Follow all Company Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Operate a variety of production equipment, including forklifts, glue presses, table saws, sanders, and other related machinery
  • Assist in other production areas as required to meet production goals

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong sense of humor and team spirit
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and stand for extended periods
