Job description

Senior Legal Researcher Remote
UtiliSave LLC
UtiliSave has recovered more than $700 million in hard-dollar refunds and credits for institutional owners and operators of real estate across the United States, uncovering savings in 94% of the clients we audit. Behind every major savings discovery, there's rigorous legal research. We are seeking experienced Legal Researchers to support our expanding legal team, providing the foundational research that drives case strategy, discovery, and litigation outcomes.
For over 35 years, UtiliSave has led the utility bill auditing industry and we are still growing. Our legal team is expanding and we need seasoned legal researchers who can dive deep into complex regulatory frameworks, case law, statutes, and regulatory filings. You will research utility tariffs, rate design regulations, cost allocation rules, billing compliance issues, and the evolving landscape of consumer protection law as it applies to utility services. No law degree required-just mastery of legal research methodology, platforms, and the discipline to uncover the insights that make our cases.
UtiliSave's success is built on tenacity, integrity, and an unrelenting commitment to our clients' best interests. Our researchers are thorough, detail-oriented, and systematic; they leave no stone unturned and they produce findings that hold up under scrutiny. If you are driven by these values-rigorous, meticulous, intellectually curious, and ceaseless in pursuit of complete answers-you will thrive here.
Our clients include manufacturers, hospitals, nursing homes, commercial and residential buildings, universities, hotels, religious institutions, and government facilities. Each client engagement surfaces complex questions about utility regulation, cost recovery, billing compliance, and damages quantification. Your research will answer those questions and provide the foundation for legal strategy, litigation support, and settlement negotiations.
What You'll Build Here
You will be the backbone of UtiliSave's legal research function. You will own all aspects of case research: regulatory analysis, statutory interpretation, case law development, expert report evaluation, and discovery support. Your work will directly inform litigation strategy, settlement positioning, and client communications. As we scale legal matters from a few cases to many, your role will expand to mentor junior researchers and build research protocols and knowledge management systems that scale the function.
How to Apply
Apply via email to recruiting@utilisave.com with the subject line ;Senior Legal Researcher.
Requirements
This is a full-time, remote position. You must have a dedicated, distraction-free workspace with reliable high-speed internet during all working hours.

You must be authorized to permanently work in the U.S. as a U.S. Citizen or active Green Card holder. No visa sponsorship is available for this role.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in legal research, contract research, litigation support, law firm research departments, or in-house legal research roles. (Law degree not required.)
• Expert-level proficiency with Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, regulatory databases, and other legal research platforms.
• Superior research methodology: able to design searches, formulate queries, manage sources, and verify findings independently.
• Exceptional legal writing: clear, concise, well-organized memoranda and research reports.
• Strong analytical skills; ability to synthesize complex case law, statutes, and regulations into actionable insights.
• Meticulous attention to detail; commitment to accuracy and verifiability in all research work.
