CPA / Staff Accountant

About the Role

We are working with a client seeking a licensed CPA or experienced Staff Accountant for a full-time, direct hire opportunity. This is a fully remote position open to candidates across the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle of accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Lead or support the month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns and ensure ongoing tax compliance
  • Coordinate with external auditors and support annual audit preparation
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
  • Analyze financial data and provide variance explanations to leadership
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems

Requirements

  • Active CPA license or CPA candidate with substantial progress toward licensure
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, audit, or a related role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Experience with accounting software — QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar
  • Proficiency in Excel for financial analysis and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote environment

Nice to Have

  • Public accounting experience — Big 4 or regional firm background
  • Experience with multi-entity or consolidation accounting

Compensation
