Job Summary:

The Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI) is a clinical research institute located on the Anschutz Medical Campus. CCTSI provides infrastructure and core technology resources designed to enhance clinical and basic sciences, promote research excellence, and train the next generation of clinical/translational scientists. The CCTSI has an opening for a full-time Research Services Intermediate Clinical Science Professional as a Nutrition Core Services Professional. This position will be academically housed in the Nutrition Core of the Colorado Clinic and Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI). The CCTSI Nutrition Core which provides research and training infrastructure as well as core technology resources designed to enhance clinical and basic sciences, promote research excellence, and train the next generation of clinical/translational scientists.

The purpose of the position is to provide expert nutritional support and weighed, metabolic meals for investigators with CCTSI research protocols. It is anticipated that this position will spend approximately 50% time conducting data analysis and participant visits and 50% time in the metabolic kitchen, producing diets.

Professionals at the entry level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and Development capacity

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Metabolic diet design, using specialty software (ProNutra, training provided) including calculation of protocol- and participant-specific diets which meet all study targets.

  • Food preparation, weighing, and packing; maintaining ServeSafe standards in a commercial kitchen.

  • Ordering food and consumables for kitchen operations.

  • Conduct data entry to measure dietary intake via 24h food recall, food frequency questionnaires, diet diaries, and novel visual methods, including participant instruction and data entry using NDS-R and/or other custom databases.

  • Conduct participant visits for data collection including anthropometric measurements in adults and children and specialty dietary counselling.

  • Develop and implement study-specific nutrition educational materials.

  • Review and implementation of new CTRC protocols.

  • Participant and Core scheduling tasks.

  • Maintain and update food inventories and databases

  • Day-to-day administrative tasks for the CCTSI Nutrition Core, including responsibility for Nutrition Core email inbox, billing, ordering, inventory, meeting agendas and minutes.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • 0-3 years of professional experience.

    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in biochemistry, nutrition or a directly related field from an accredited institution

  • 1 or more years of professional research and nutritional experience.

    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Food services experience

  • Research experience

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

  • Intermediate Level: $54,302 -  $72,765

  • Entry Level: $49,899 -  $66,865

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
