Job description

Company Description
Arista Networks is seeking an Intellectual Property Attorney to join its legal team. A successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Arista's intellectual property development, acquisition, and defense and will support other legal and business activities relating to intellectual property and technology. This position will report to Arista's Deputy General Counsel of Intellectual Property and Litigation and will be based at Arista's headquarters in Santa Clara, California.
Job Description
  • Take a leading role in shaping Arista's intellectual property portfolio development strategy
  • Coordinate and lead patent harvesting activities
  • Actively collaborate with outside patent counsel to draft and prosecute high-quality patents
  • Support litigation activities relating to intellectual property
  • Provide IP support on other legal matters (e.g., licensing discussions, acquisitions)
  • Advise management on intellectual property issues

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a demonstrated ability to oversee all aspects of IP portfolio development and protection
  • State bar membership and eligibility to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
  • Strong academic background in engineering (electrical engineering or computer science background preferred)
  • Willingness to develop deep expertise in the company's technology
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Additional Information
  • Significant experience prosecuting patents in both the law firm and in-house counsel settings
  • Familiarity with patent landscaping and portfolio evaluation
  • Familiarity with modern computer networking technology and ability to understand computer software written in a variety of programming languages
  • Familiarity with trademarks and trade secrets
