Job description

Field Technician – Termite & Pest Control

Position Title: Field Technician
Location: Louisiana (various service areas)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Branch Manager / Service Supervisor

Position Summary

The Field Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality pest and termite services to residential and commercial customers across Louisiana. This role includes performing inspections, identifying pest and termite activity, applying treatments, installing monitoring systems, and documenting all work using Field Routes. The technician represents the company in the field and must provide exceptional customer service and adhere to all LDAF regulations and product label requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough inspections of interior and exterior areas to identify pest and termite activity, entry points, and conducive conditions.
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding findings, service recommendations, treatment plans, and follow-up needs.
  • Use Field Routes to complete routing, documentation, diagrams, photos, chemical usage logs, and customer notes.
  • Achieve monthly goals set by management.
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean and organized manner.
  • Comply with all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and chemical handling guidelines.
  • Report any property damage, vehicle issues, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Attend ongoing training to maintain certifications and product knowledge.
  • All paperwork should reveal and “paint a transparent picture” of exactly what was done at the property.
  • All Field Technicians/Account Managers must provide at least three (4) days’ notice to management for any requested time off by filling out a Leave Request form.
  • All hours worked must be tracked accurately by clocking in and out using Field Routes.
  • All paperwork, including proposals, service reports, and inspection documentation, must be completed at the job site at the time of service.
  • Field Technicians/Account Managers must communicate clearly and promptly with office staff regarding their routes, schedules, and any reschedules.
  • If you are running more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, call the client to let them know.
  • If you are driving more than 20 minutes to your next stop, call and confirm the appointment with the client.
  • Always greet the client if possible and ask questions related to the service(s) you are there to provide.
  • Review schedule each morning to make sure you have all equipment/products needed before leaving the office
  • When you know a client is satisfied, ask them for a review. 5 Star Reviews helps the company with online presence (Google, Nextdoor App, Facebook, etc.)

Pest Control Responsibilities

  • Apply general pest treatments using approved methods in accordance with LDAF regulations and all product labels.
  • Provide recurring pest maintenance services and recommendations to reduce future infestation risks.
  • Safely operate sprayers, dusters, granule spreaders, and other pest control equipment.

Termite Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed termite inspections, including structural evaluation and documentation of findings.
  • Perform termite treatment methods such as trenching, rodding, drilling, foaming, and bait system installation/monitoring.
  • Create diagrams, contracts, and state-required forms through FieldRoutes.
  • Follow all LDAF regulations for termite treatment, recordkeeping, warranties, and compliance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Louisiana Pest Control and/or Termite certification preferred; company will assist with obtaining required credentials.
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
  • Ability to use smartphones/tablets and learn FieldRoutes software.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a structured route.
  • Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug test based on Federal standards.
  • Ability to lift 50–60 lbs, work in heat/humidity, and enter crawl spaces, attics, and tight areas.

Work Environment

  • Indoor/outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to insects, chemicals, soil, dust, and confined spaces.
  • Daily travel in a company vehicle throughout assigned service routes.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, digging, crawling, climbing, and lifting.
  • Ability to operate drills, trenching tools, sprayers, and other manual/powered equipment.
  • Ability to wear respirators, gloves, and required PPE.
