Job description

Burr & Forman LLP seeks a full-time, experienced business immigration paralegal.  This role will provide critical support to the firm’s immigration practice through the preparation, filing, and tracking of various immigration applications and petitions.  The position will preferably be resident in our Atlanta, GA, Bluffton, SC, Columbia, SC, or Greenville, SC offices. 

KEY CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Prepare visa applications and petitions for business and employment-based immigration cases.
  • Experience working with an immigration case management system and project management software.
  • Compile and analyze complex case facts and documents, prepare reports and other relevant immigration documents.
  • Maintain and manage case files including tracking of cases, determining related deadlines, and responding to status inquiries.
  • Extensive communication with clients, beneficiaries, attorneys, and government agencies.
  • Draft immigration correspondence including support letters and other key documents for attorney review.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

THE ESSENTIALS

  • A bachelor’s degree, paralegal certification or degree, and/or appropriate combination of education/experience.
  • Two years of business immigration experience with visa petitions (H-1B, L-1, TN) and green cards (PERM). 
  • Highly organized, detail-orientated, proactive, and desire to take ownership.
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and research skills.
  • Balance competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment, exercising patience and professionalism during stressful situations.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the team and a variety of audiences.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint with knowledge of Asana, LawLogix or other immigration software a plus.
