Job Title: Powder Paint Helper
Position Title: Powder Paint Helper (Full-time)
Department: Operations/Onsite Los Angeles
Reports To: Production Manager
Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Powder Paint Helper to join our manufacturing and finishing team. You will support lead powder coaters by preparing metal parts, operating industrial wash stages, loading/unloading conveyor lines, and ensuring parts are cured flawlessly. This role is perfect for individuals wanting to master industrial coating and surface preparation technologies. Hours are Monday-Friday from 7 am until 3:30 pm. Pay range of $19-20/hour.
Duties and Responsibilities
Part Preparation & Masking
  • Apply masking plugs, caps, and high-temperature tape to threads, holes, and surfaces that must remain free of powder.
  • Wipe down parts using chemical solvents or degreasers to remove oils, rust, and manufacturing debris.
  • Operate pretreatment systems such as chemical wash stations, phosphate baths, or blast cabinets to ensure proper powder adhesion.

Production Line Operations
  • Hang parts securely onto overhead conveyor racks or rolling carts using hooks and fixtures.
  • Unload finished parts carefully from the line after they emerge from the curing oven and have cooled completely.
  • Inspect quality of coated items for defects like light coverage, runs, bubbles, or contamination before final packaging.

Equipment & Shop Maintenance
  • Clean powder booths and fluidizing hoppers thoroughly between color changes to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Monitor oven temperatures and line speeds under the direction of the lead coater.
  • Maintain inventory by stocking powder boxes, masking supplies, hooks, and personal protective equipment.

Safety & Environmental Compliance
  • Wear mandatory PPE including air-purifying respirators, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and protective suits.
  • Handle powder safely to manage dust accumulation and maintain a safe, explosion-free workspace.
  • Follow safety protocols for handling hazardous pre-treatment chemicals and working around high-heat curing ovens.

Requirements and Qualifications
Skills & Experience
  • Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or auto-body shop environment is a plus; we will train the right candidate to Powder Coat.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to spot minor surface imperfections and apply precise masking.
  • Pace: Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
  • Communications: Must be bi-lingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements
  • Stamina: Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day and perform repetitive reaching, lifting, and hanging motions.
  • Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Environment: Comfortable working in an industrial environment that can be hot (near curing ovens) and dusty.
