Job description

Lead Low Voltage Technician 

Location: Frederick, MD  

Job Type: Full-Time  

Salary Range: $40K to $70K  

Position Summary 

We're looking for an experienced Lead Low Voltage Technician to oversee commercial low-voltage installations while leading field crews to deliver high-quality projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with structured cabling, with knowledge of security systems, access control, and network infrastructure, along with strong leadership and customer service skills. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and supervise installation crews on commercial low-voltage projects. 
  • Install, terminate, test, and certify structured cabling systems, including Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling. 
  • Install cable pathway systems including cable tray, J-hooks, conduit, ladder racks, and equipment racks. 
  • Install network racks, patch panels, switches, UPS units, and related network infrastructure. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications. 
  • Coordinate daily work with project managers, general contractors, and other trades. 
  • Perform system testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and project closeout documentation. 
  • Ensure all work complies with CLARK and industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site. 
  • Mentor and train junior technicians while promoting quality workmanship and safety. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial low-voltage installation experience. 
  • Proven experience leading installation crews and managing daily field operations. 
  • Strong knowledge of: 
  • Structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, Fiber Optics) 
  • Solid understanding of IP networking fundamentals. 
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction documents. 
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities. 
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in indoor and outdoor environments. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Experience with one or more of the following manufacturers: 

  • Axis Communications 
  • Hanwha Vision 
  • Avigilon 
  • Brivo 
  • Genetec 
  • Lenel 
  • Software House 

Preferred certifications include: 

  • Fiber Optic Termination and Testing 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 
  • Manufacturer Certifications
