How much do full time fpga programming jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 1, 2026, the average yearly pay for full time fpga programming in the United States is $147,315.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $130,000.00 and $167,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How much do FPGA programmers make?

FPGA programmers typically earn between $80,000 and $130,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and industry. Senior roles or those with specialized skills in hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog can command higher salaries, especially in high-demand sectors such as telecommunications, aerospace, and defense.

What engineers make $300,000 a year?

Senior FPGA engineers, especially those with extensive experience, specialized skills in hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog, and expertise in high-performance or embedded systems, can earn $300,000 or more annually. High compensation is often associated with roles in industries such as aerospace, defense, or high-frequency trading, where advanced technical knowledge and certifications are valued.

What is the difference between Full Time Fpga Programming vs FPGA Design Engineer?

AspectFull Time Fpga ProgrammingFPGA Design Engineer
Required SkillsHardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog), programming, debuggingHardware description languages, digital design, simulation, verification
Work EnvironmentEmbedded systems, hardware development teams, manufacturingDesign teams, R&D labs, hardware development
Industry UsageConsumer electronics, telecommunications, aerospaceSemiconductor companies, defense, high-performance computing

Full Time Fpga Programming focuses on coding and implementing FPGA logic, often emphasizing programming skills. FPGA Design Engineer involves designing and verifying FPGA architectures, requiring a broader understanding of digital design. Both roles overlap in skills but differ in scope and responsibilities.

What engineers make $500,000 a year?

Highly experienced FPGA programming engineers working in specialized industries such as aerospace, defense, or high-frequency trading can earn salaries approaching or exceeding $500,000 annually, especially with advanced skills in hardware description languages, FPGA design tools, and certifications. These roles often require extensive expertise, leadership responsibilities, and sometimes involve working in high-stakes environments or on cutting-edge technology projects.

What tech jobs pay $400,000 a year?

Full-time FPGA programming roles typically do not reach $400,000 annually, but senior positions in software engineering, data science, and executive roles in tech companies can exceed this salary level. High compensation often requires extensive experience, advanced skills, and working in high-demand industries or leadership positions.
