JOB DESCRIPTION

USC Athletics is looking to hire a Director of Digital Media, Football to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. The Director of Digital Media, Football, will focus on social media management, photography, and graphic design. Social management strategy is consistent with brand campaigns and program direction. This includes tending to all external social media channels for USC football, including X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and any other public-facing platforms.

Reporting directly to the Executive Creative Director, Art and Brand, the Director of Digital Media, Football will work in collaboration with USC Football Full-Time in office on University of Southern California's campus. The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify trends and push the needle of creative content. An ideal candidate will have an elite photography and design skillset with professional experience managing social media channels within sports. In addition to exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of and experience working in higher education preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes preferred.

This position serves a large student and staff population, must demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for a variety of populations, and is expected to contribute to the program's demonstrated commitment to non-discrimination and equal opportunity for all. This is an exempt position with work expected in office, travel, and work weekends as needed.

Roles and responsibilities to include:

  • Administers day-to-day marketing operations for university unit or department. Participates in development of marketing and sales goals, objectives, plans and strategies. Assists in determining target markets.

  • Develops, produces and distributes publications and other promotional materials for department marketing and public relations purposes. Collaborates with faculty, staff or clients on marketing, strategic issues and ways to position or portray progress, services, goods or services within university and/or to the general public through publications or other promotional materials. Coordinates appropriate use of university and/or department logos, emblems and indicia.

  • Establishes and maintains contacts with internal and external marketing professionals and vendors such as artists, designers, photographers, mailing houses, postal service, list brokers, advertising representatives, media contacts.

  • Analyzes and evaluates research, current market conditions and trends to assist in determining development and direction of marketing plans and projects.

  • Administers department marketing calendar, as assigned. Monitors schedules, production and distribution arrangements and other details to ensure timely completion and quality control of marketing activities and publications.

  • Provides leadership and guidance to staff, student workers, volunteers, outside consultants and/or other constituencies, as assigned.

  • Produce graphic design projects for internal/external and recruiting. Utilize creativity and originality, from conceptualization to final product.

  • Photograph USC Football team and tend to photo sharing platform via Photo Shelter and Greenly

  • Photograph USC Football recruits and external events

  • Assist in social media and creative ideation for internal/external and recruiting.

  • Assist in management of select student interns on the basis of photography and graphic design.

  • Assist with videography / editing.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelors Degree. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

  • 3 years of related experience.

  • Advanced skills in graphic design.

  • Advanced skills photography and photo editing.

  • Experience tending to social media platforms.

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator)

  • Experience with videography, motion design, video editing

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail in regard to content editing and distribution.

  • Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

  • 3 years of relatable experience

Salary Range

The annual base salary range for this position is $82,000- $95,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
