Role: Fire & Sprinkler Designer (2 openings)

Location: Denver, CO or Tempe, AZ

Compensation: $28 - $45 / hour (higher for strong experience | Potential $100K+ with NICET level III+)

About the Company

our client is a growing fire protection company specializing in fire sprinkler system design, installation, service, and repair. They support commercial, industrial, and residential projects and are known for delivering high-quality, code-compliant systems across multiple markets.

This is a critical hire within their design organization, and they are looking to add two experienced Fire & Sprinkler Designers immediately.

Position Overview

The Fire & Sprinkler Designer is responsible for designing and coordinating fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This role plays a key part in ensuring projects move smoothly from design through installation and close-out.

You will collaborate closely with the Design Manager, Superintendent, Estimating team, and field crews to ensure projects are delivered accurately and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate fire sprinkler systems (NOT fire alarm focused)
  • Produce submittal drawings and construction documentation
  • Perform hydraulic calculations
  • Review construction drawings and specifications
  • Develop material lists and support ordering
  • Manage project planning and scheduling
  • Support permitting processes
  • Attend coordination meetings and conduct field surveys
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, and mechanical teams

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of fire sprinkler design experience
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 13 and related fire codes
  • Experience performing hydraulic calculations
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
  • High School Diploma required (Associate degree preferred)
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • AutoCAD certification or equivalent hands-on experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Certification (strongly preferred; higher compensation available)
  • Q&E / Qualifying Member license
  • AutoCAD Certification
  • Strong understanding of permitting processes
  • Experience attending coordination meetings
