Job description

Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, seeks a full-time Educational Technology Specialist, Grades 5-12 starting July 1, 2026. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the 5-12 Educational Technology Specialist is a key member of the Technology Department and serves as a pedagogical thought partner and expert practitioner. At Trinity, the conversation between student and teacher is the heart of our school; this role is designed to nourish that relationship by ensuring technology serves as a bridge to deep learning.
The Specialist balances hands-on faculty support with the management of divisional initiatives - specifically focusing on Al literacy, digital citizenship, and data privacy- to ensure technology remains a tool for exploration and innovation.
Primary Responsibilities
Instructional Coaching and Faculty Support
  • Serve as a dedicated instructional partner for Middle and Upper School faculty, engaging in pedagogical conversations to connect technology tools to classroom practice.
  • Provide personalized, hands-on educational technology support to help teachers overcome technical hurdles and identify tools that align with specific curricular goals.
  • Design and lead divisional professional development sessions and workshops on emerging tools that align with Trinity's pedagogical practices.
  • Develop and maintain a library of tutorials, "how-to" guides, and best-practice exemplars for faculty and students.

Emerging Technologies and Digital Citizenship
  • Co-lead the school's engagement with Artificial Intelligence (Al) and emerging tools, including co-facilitating an Al Working Group to develop Al literacy that balances skepticism and curiosity.
  • In collaboration with Librarians and the Lower School team, oversee the Digital Citizenship scope and sequence (K-12) to ensure ethical discernment and critical media literacy.
  • Maintain a rigorous vetting process for all 5-12 software to ensure strict adherence to student data privacy standards and school safety protocols.

Strategic and Systems Operations
  • Assist the CIO in executing the 5-12 portion of the school's strategic technology plan, ensuring classroom needs inform school-wide goals.
  • Partner with the technology team to ensure that 5-12 hardware (laptops, iPads) and platforms (LMS/Google Workspace) meet daily operational needs.
  • Support the technology team during school breaks and during the summer with the auditing and preparation of 5-12 student and faculty devices, ensuring all devices are ready for a seamless start to the academic year.

Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in educational technology, instructional design, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of successful classroom teaching experience (ideally grades 5-12) and 2+ years of experience in an edtech coaching or leadership role.

Qualifications
  • The ability to center the student-teacher relationship. Technology for its own sake is not valued - technology that enables us to deepen our work with students is.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Google Workspace for Education and deep experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackbaud, Google Classroom).
  • An ability to balance self-management with a patient, collaborative approach, providing 'push-in' support to faculty with varying levels of technical comfort; a sense of humor is a definite plus.
  • Complex decision-making skills and sound judgment.
  • A strong commitment to the school's mission and motto, Labore et Virtute, acting with integrity to lift others up.

An Equal Opportunity Employer, Trinity School seeks candidates who will add to the diversity of our school community.
Interested candidates should post a resume as well as a cover letter outlining their readiness for this position.
Starting Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000 (salary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and expertise)
