Business Intelligence Developer
Department: IT
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: US - Indiana - Fort Wayne
Description
The BI Developer designs, builds, and maintains the enterprise data warehouse and semantic models. You will consult with and advise users on access to data, assist in modernizing our data platform, and work with industry leading tools.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration
  • Learns and applies our database architecture, strategies, and standards.
  • Monitors databases to ensure uptime and quality.
  • Configures database parameters and security.
  • Performs database backup and recovery.

Database Development
  • Designs and codes application interfaces and data transfer mechanisms as required to support and integrate business applications.
  • Contributes to the modernization of our data warehouse and integration tooling, helping adopt newer patterns and platforms as business needs evolve.
  • Assists in the design of data warehouse databases and tabular data models to deliver Business Intelligence reporting.
  • Writes scripts and queries for business applications, and/or ad-hoc data analysis.

Service Operation
  • Responds to internal customers to resolve their technology problems.
  • Enters and manages Incident and Service Request tickets in ServiceNow, IT Service Management Application.
  • Provides technical support for databases and database-based integrations used by Franklin Electric employees across all business functions.
  • Occasionally provides off-hours support on evenings and weekends.
  • Must maintain or exceed Service Level Agreements for Incident Resolution. This will be measured based on Incident Duration for the team.

Request and Change Management
  • Ensures all changes and requests are entered into ServiceNow.
  • Ensures the fulfillment of end user requests for databases and database-based integrations.
  • Reviews the forward schedule of changes for potential conflicts.

Project Management
  • Participates as a resource on projects led by others.
  • May lead small data related projects.
  • Completes assigned project tasks on time and with high quality.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • Coding - Designs, codes, debugs and documents database applications/integrations to deliver business outcomes.
  • Communication - Delivers accurate, clear, and concise messages orally and/or in writing. Participates in meetings and discussions.
  • Problem Solving - Uses a logical, systematic search for the source of a problem, determining the most likely cause by eliminating potential causes of a problem.
  • Decision Making - Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; compares alternatives and makes timely decisions.
  • Requirements Definition - Elicits and documents a clear, concise and agreed set of internal customer requirements.
  • Testing - Plans and facilitates validation activities to ensure a technology solution meets defined requirements.
  • Adaptability - Stays current with evolving data and integration technologies and applies them where they benefit the business.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, related degree, or equivalent work experience (preferred).
  • Two years of related experience, including internships and project coursework (preferred).

Computer Skills
  • Microsoft SQL Server and/or Azure SQL Database
  • Microsoft Power BI and/or Fabric
