Job description

Bring financial leadership, strategic discipline, and member-focused impact to a credit union committed to Making Good Happen.

Valley First Credit Union is seeking a forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer to help guide the next chapter of growth, performance, and member value for a $1.1B credit union. This is a key executive leadership opportunity for a financial leader who can balance strategy with execution, see the story behind the numbers, and serve as a trusted advisor to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership team. The CFO reports directly to the President & CEO and provides strategic and operational leadership across the credit union’s financial functions.

The Opportunity

This is not a “maintain the status quo” CFO role. Valley First is seeking a financial executive to strengthen performance, support strategic growth, and help the organization make smart, disciplined decisions in a changing financial services environment.

What Success Looks Like

The successful CFO will:

  • Strengthen financial planning, forecasting, and scenario modeling to support informed decisions.
  • Lead ALM, liquidity, capital, investments, and balance sheet strategy with confidence and discipline.
  • Provide clear insight into financial performance, profitability, NIM, ROA, non-interest income, and long-term sustainability.
  • Support lending, payments, product strategy, and growth initiatives through strong financial analysis and sound risk management.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting integrity.
  • Lead and develop finance, accounting, and payments teams with a focus on accountability, continuous improvement, and service.
  • Bring curiosity, ownership, and practical business judgment to both strategic and operational decisions.
The Ideal Candidate

At Valley First, the mission and values are clear: serve members and the community with Passion, Learning, and Ownership. The right CFO will reflect those values through strong financial stewardship, sound decision-making, and collaborative leadership.

Desired Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required. MBA preferred, CPA is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of accounting/financial management experience.
  • At least 8 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience working with auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong knowledge of financial institution regulations, investments, ALM, financial reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, communicate clearly, manage multiple priorities, and influence at the executive and Board level.
Compensation:

$225,000 – $275,000

Why Valley First

This is an opportunity to join a values-driven credit union where financial leadership directly impacts members, employees, and the community. Valley First is seeking a CFO who brings strong technical expertise, sound business judgment, and a leadership approach grounded in our core values.

For a finance executive seeking to make a meaningful impact, build trusted partnerships, and help shape the future of a strong, community-focused credit union, this is a compelling next step.
