Construction Accounting Manager
Salary: $105k-$140k

About the Role:
We’re seeking a highly skilled Construction Accounting Manager with strong experience working for a General Contractor. This individual will play a key leadership role in managing all aspects of accounting operations, including payroll, AP/AR, job cost accounting, billing, compliance, and select HR-related responsibilities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, general ledger, and payroll
  • Manage job cost tracking, project billing, cost-to-complete reports, and financial performance analysis
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, financial reporting, and audits
  • Administer payroll including certified payroll and compliance with prevailing wage requirements, if applicable
  • Support HR functions such as onboarding, employee files, benefits administration, and policy compliance
  • Maintain financial controls, accounting procedures, and company compliance with GAAP
  • Assist project teams and leadership with financial insights, forecasts, and cash flow management
  • Coordinate with external CPA firm, insurance/bonding partners, and banking representatives
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement efficiencies within the accounting function
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of construction accounting experience within a General Contractor required
  • Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and AIA billing
  • Experience managing payroll and HR-related tasks
  • Proficiency with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, CMiC) preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and construction financial practices
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
