Description
Position: COMSEC Auditor - Full time position
Cogent Security LLC seeks a proactive and highly analytical COMSEC Auditor to plan and conduct COMSEC audits and training for the protection of COMSEC materials and items. The ideal candidate will maintain COMSEC databases and manage interactions with field sites, other government agencies, CORs/Auditors, the Committee on National Security Systems, and the National Office of Record. Candidates must be able to adapt to changes in operations, equipment, and policy, and effectively communicate with senior-level field oversight.
Detailed duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Conduct Audits and Inventories: Plan, coordinate, and conduct COMSEC audits and inventories in accordance with Agency and national policies for the protection of materials, classified information, and Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI).
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed COMSEC audit reports and maintain official records and electronic databases related to all COMSEC activities.
  • Incident Investigation: Review and process COMSEC-related requests and conduct thorough inquiries and investigations into COMSEC incidents.
  • Training and Briefings: Develop, prepare, and deliver comprehensive COMSEC training sessions and security briefings to ensure personnel remain compliant with current standards.
  • COR and Account Management: Perform day-to-day Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) activities and serve as a COMSEC account manager as required.
  • Field Support and Coordination: Coordinate with the National Office of Record and travel to field sites to conduct audits and provide hands-on training.
  • Logistics and Certification: Assist with COMSEC key transfers to field sites and manage the associated training certifications.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience conducting COMSEC audits and/or performing COR operations
  • Current and active security clearance (Specific Agency information provided during interview)
  • Proven experience protecting Type 1 encryption keys and Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI)
  • Experience supporting COMSEC accounts and associated hardware
  • Demonstrated compliance with CNSS and NSA policies and requirements
  • Prior experience serving as a COMSEC custodian
  • Ability to travel extensively to various field sites
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with senior-level field oversight and national offices of record
  • Advanced knowledge of evolving COMSEC equipment and national security policy
