As a full time, nonexempt Pharmacy Technician, you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Prepare and compound medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
  • Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
  • Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
  • Comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations

Schedule: This full-time, nonexempt position will work up to 40 hours/week in a variety of shifts.
Location: Coast Plaza Doctor's Hospital in Norwalk, CA offers 117 licensed beds, including a 37-bed Behavioral Health unit, and a complete in-house range of Emergency Department Services 24/7.
Pharmacy Hours: The pharmacy utilizes CPOE and ADC-Pyxis with Pyxis automation/software. Pharmacy hours are Monday - 7:00am-8:30pm; Tuesday-Friday - 7:30am-8:30pm; and Saturday & Sunday - 8:00am-4:30pm. Remote pharmacy services are provided overnight and after these listed pharmacy hours.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current California certified pharmacy technician license in good standing
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office
  • Proven effective communication skills; verbal and written
  • Driver's License and access to a reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PTCB/CPhT
  • IV and compounding experience
  • Pharmacy technician experience in a hospital pharmacy setting

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
